I am new to jet boating and have always wanted one I recently bought a one owner 1982 baja 18 ft bow rider with a 460 big block and a Berkeley jet drive. I have all the original papers and service records and this boat was shrink wrapped for 10 years. I took it out and it runs mid 70's but is lacking that big rooster tail that I always loved when we boated when I was a kid.
What is the best way to get it and where can I buy the parts at a good price. Also should I get the hydrolic one or manual. Thanks in advance

Well, in all honesty, a Place Diverter is the best bet for just a rooster tail. The debate between hydraulic or manual is one you will have to have with yourself (totally personal preference) The only requirement for a manual is a good place to mount the handle that is both accessible and safe.

Pictures are required here newbie... It's like a test, if you can't post pictures, well, then, I guess your just as computer illiterate as all of us LMAO

Man, Glen, the newbie comment almost made me feel kind of left out in a way. I guess maybe I did one better by going to the last Avi meet and showed my ugly mug/boat, instead of pictures just after My wife turned me onto this forum

i second GT Jets statement hydraulic is rather expensive compared to a manual diverter control but all is personal preference .

Here are some pics of my baja. The gel coat and metal flake paint is flawless. It has one scratch on the whole boat. The best thing is I live in myrtle beach sc and I am the only jet boat like this on the river

That thing is rad!!!! I went manual diverter due to the cost. That's really the only reason.

That boat is friggen awesome! I think I would go hydro, because it wont be a cheap Diverter anyways... (JE)

Thanks everyone. I own a tattoo shop and have a flexable schedule so I have taken this thing out every morning for the last 3 weeks since I have had it. It will really put u In ur seat. I also have a 22 ft searay but it ain't half the fun as this and it is really a head turner. I can't believe everything works too
