Place diverter trim gauge

Did anyone put on a trim gauge?    I was just wondering if anyone came up
with a trim gauge sender for the place diverter.   12JE Berk.

I saw the expensive one but I'm wondering if anyone came up with an
alternative.

any luck?

I have a berk JF with camino (?) electric motor drive that had a reostat bridge (gone) that looks like it was connected to an electronic trim gage. Wondering if anyone has the size of that reostat and a wiring diagram (ya, its an oldie).

Seat of the pants I can tell when its full up and down, but not in between!

The Place unit uses a small inboard potentiometer run by a small cable tied into the hydraulic ram , it the operates almost any compatible dash trim guage the whole system is around a buck and a half  Tom

I have used these for different stuff on the rock dodger, had one for each trim tab and one on the Diverter when we ran one, they used to cost $35...
:screwy:  They can be run under water.... :thumbup:  And uses a regular trim gauge.

I have a JF berk run by a wiper motor (?) per Tom at Jet Boat. Wonder how this would work.
Thinking I could hook a wire string to the end of it and have the travel of the shaft egenrate the motion to correlate to the trim setting. SOunds nice in theory :-)
Wish I could find how it was done originally as otehrwsie everything works on this old berk just fine.

Should actually be a Chevy power window motor... :thumbup:

As far as using the shaft, I would prefer you use the output, less math than trying to convert rotation to travel...But then again, I am simple minded... :-\

overtravel would be simple, I just wish I knew where the nozzle was. Although seat of the pants works fine otherwise. I just hate to overdrive it as you can see the current demand skyroicket and I worry I might burn something up. (chevy makes a strong electric motor! Sheee-$t!)

I put fuses into the drive lines now to protect overdrive, but popping fuses still leaves you having to open it up, replace the fuses and adjust trim being very careful not to overdrive the sucker again.

fwiw- sounds like I can use a fuel sensor rigged up as a trim indicator in my window motor trim. Saw a picture from Ray and it looks pretty simple.

OldMX, I have no idea what that contraption is. Maybe a very early electric JetOVator? All the ones I've seen look like mine, but yours would do the same thing, kinda, I guess. I'll drop you a PM, because it sounds to me like you have some serious issues with yours.

That's an early Place piece.... I have the same on the Circus boat. It DOES use a lot of current, but works well. Make sure the rack is lubricated and use 10-12 ga wire and it'll last for years.

31 years so far :-)   I want to know where my place is at a glance (cannot tell with the electric) so I cam switching to a floor mount handle manual set up. My electric one will go on ebay or here under parts (along with the cable).
Wanna spare? Comes with good cable and new switch!
