Anyone ever see a set up like this ? i assume the hose bib is for letting water into the engine from a hose?? But isnt there a better way of doing it....
I also want to install this guage so i know what my pressure will be at , or should i just get the pressure relief valve?

I went with pressure valve and put the guage up front on the motor where I could see it if I think something is wrong.

Mine's a little different, as the pump is stuck way inside a pod. So the valve on mine sits next to the engine. I believe in KISS (keep things simple stupid) and the less parts there are the better. IMO. I wish I could find a one piece plug for the garden hose end.

Since it's kind of sort of related, why the gauge for water pressure?

I went with an adjustable pressure valve as well. The reason for the guage is so you can see where to set the pressure with the valve. I have mine set around 12 to 14 psi at WOT. I put my gauge on the t-stat plate. Welded a NPT bung in the plate for the gauge.

That's what I thought. 2Sav, are you going to be running a pressure relief valve or are you going to be running it the way they built them when they were new?

The water spicket/valve is there so you don't have to remove a plug when you want to hook it up to a garden hose.
The only reason for the gauge is if you are going to run a water pressure relief valve.
IMO, you have 3 valves within one foot of each other and you should make it look like...

A lot of guys that run a water pressure relief set up is because they boat in very cold waters, the pressure relief deal gives them more control on thier engines temp. A lot of other people run water pressure relief systems because they hear stories of how a jet pump puts upwards of 300 psi through an engine. :banghead:

Oh yea, if you run it like I photoshopedd it, buy a plug for the garden hose inlet. ;D

If all that fails, I can get them in brass locally. For a box of yellow bellies I could be swayed to going to the hose store.

Those are plastic and the plug sits about 4 or 5 inches from the headers. Home Depot doesn't carry it, I went to 2 different stores. I haven't looked at Lowes, Dixieline, True Value, etc. yet. :banghead:
I probably should know this, but what in the hell are yellow bellies?

I serioiusly doubt that the plastic would ever get hot enough to melt. Try an RV store, they may have brass ones.

If you can still find them. I had an old Prestone radiator flush kit and used the cap from that. I also made up a short hose to go between the connector in the boat to the hose. Photos to come.

i think i see a trend, they all want the hose attatchment so they can run the boat on the trailer w/o taking the u-joint out O0

You betcha!! I've got the timer installed and wired now. Great way to cool off with misters and you don't have to get in the water. They mount nicely to the Bimini top rails and the jet supplies ample water pressure and supply. ;D
Speaking of Bimini tops, how do you measure to order one to fit?
