I have a preloader in mine...Helps to keep the pump loaded at idle for initial thrust to plane.

Inducers are interesting devices. 8)

The basic idea behind them (bear in mind this is from the 1990's) is to take some of the work away from the impeller having to "pull" the load from the bottom of the intake, if you look at the intake area where and inducer would reside you would see that there is a lot of real estate between where the water is to where the first edge of the blade of the impeller touches the load.

The inducer basically does two things. One, it pulls water into the suction piece and actually loads the impeller. Two, it acts as a pre rotaion device, getting the load rotating in the right direction before being pumped, both of these functions increase overall impeller effect (in theory) and they are a very trial and error. Most of the time I would say they help in one form or another but the horsepower requirement would be higher IMHO, typical 350 HP setups I don't believe can benefit, but the 800 HP high RPM monsters could really take advantage of them...

In short, think of them like wide sticky rear tires on a muscle car that can fry conventional tires for as long as your right foot is touching floor mat.

I have run the same boat, both with and without and the difference for us was being able to keep your foot on the go pedal in rougher water at speed (70-85 MPH), no other difference was noted (all seat of the pants and open for interpretation).

Thanks for asking Lupo , and thank you for all the information guys....
I'm going to buy a place diverter for my boat soon and saw the option for the fine tune inserts. My boat has a 325HP its a  454 motor with a jacuzzi jet pump. What do you think i should do? Just buy a standard place diverter or get the fine tuning insert  place diverter option?

Are your talking about these http://www.cpperformance.com/c-698-fine-tune-nozzle-inserts.aspx
I would buy a place diverter before a fine tune nozzle.

How about inducers in a larger boat like a sleek craft exec (23' daycruiser). Would this be a noticeable seat of the pants addition particularly when launching to pull up a single skier?

Currently, my boat struggles to yank me out of the water on a single ski. I'm 6'2" @220 . The body has a pretty healthy 460, berk jc, diverter and trim tabs...

I have a heavy 18' with a preloader....it does help. I used to have a 455 olds without a loader...I now run a 460 and added the preloader to achieve the same or better holeshot....I do miss the olds but not the drama...

FTN inserts will change almost nothing assuming your ride has the correct pump setup from the factory, and almost every untouched unit we have seen was correct. The nozzles make the most difference on a light boat that runs over 70 or so and has more than stock HP. The lighter, faster, and more HP makes a bigger difference. If you will never build a "stomper of a motor" and are prepared to do a lot of setup changes and mods, spend the cash on an inducer. TIMINATOR
