pump mods advice needed

ok so my motor makes mid 600hp i have a berk jc pump with a loader and diverter what else can i get or do that will get me out of the hole and give me more mph i havent ran the boat yet with this setup but i want to maximize the money spent on it. the hull is a 73 anthony 18ft i have saddle tanks and nothing in the bow to help dry it up as before it plowed pretty bad.

Mid 600's at what rpm?

You won't know squat without a documented water test to see what it does. You can't fix/improve on what you don't know.

Well in all honesty, the boat should run pretty stout. Providing the loader is trimmed properly and you have the correct Place Diverter.

One of the only things that come to my mind when talking aluminum impeller is a bowl stuffer. It takes some of the stress if the impeller itself and assists in keeping things loaded.

Do you know if your Anthony has a hook?

If it does how big and where?

One of the first things you should test is how she shuts down at speed, and no, this is not a dig at the Olds lmao...

thats true i was lookin at the bronze imp also and im not sure about the hook ive heard of ways to check but none i trust as the source wasnt too knowledgable i know when i shut down at speed it kinda coasts so to say for a while it doesnt come off plane really quick. is there a reliable way to check the bottom? i need to sand and paint the bottom anyway. so if there is a hook would it be sandable? i have no idea about bottom prep.

I believe you want around 6 feet of straight/flat from trans along keel. If you lay the edge (straight edge ruler) straight from trans going up to sides (from trans to bow) including strakes... and notice gaps like a golf ball, thats hook.

I want to say that Anthony was Southwind splash.
Straightening out the bottom will probably get you the most out of your future mods.

From another southwind guy to another. Leave the outer strakes alone unless you want a porpous problem!!!!!! That boat is a ski boat, it will need a lot of hardware work and moving the motor around to get rid of it porpousing. I just had a talk with Chris at b1 about the exact same thing.

This is good advise right here ^^^^. I've also had conversations with Greg Shoemaker about the 18' Southwinds. Like Jake say's, these are ski boats by design. You don't always want to remove all the hook out of the bottom. Your best bet is to get your info from people who really understand how these hulls work, what hardware works, and what doesn't. In my book, that would be Chris Starkweather @ B1, Greg Shoemaker @ GS Marine, or Jack McClure @MPD. At a minimum talk with Fut's on PB. These guy's can save you a bunch of time and headaches experimenting.

the one thing me and Chris are looking at is the motor placement. That's why I rigged my dimarco with the motor so forward.

awesome info guys my motor is pretty far forward im sorta worried to mess with to much becaise as of now it rides flat at around 65-70 guessing on speed only gps'once and got 53 with 6 ppl crammed in it and an ice chest and at the time my floats werent set so i couldnt get past 1/2 throttle without is fallin on its face it also had a bow tank at the time.

and i didnt have a loader. or any grate at that point it was just open. amd no diverter either. its came a long way the diverter helped dry it up alot but then i got rid of the bow tank and put saddle tanks in and now its got alot more motor. im shootin for 80 mph with two ppl in it.
