ride plate adjustment for bigger roost question
« on: May 19, 2015, 05:00:14 PM »
I have a Berkeley 12 JE pump on my boat with a newly installed type place diverter. Since mine is a one piece bowl I cannot add a droop snout or rooster booster for a taller roost. Here is my theory, if I adjust my ride plate down a little so it pushes the front of the boat down will that in theory angle the diverter up more. Does that sound rite? Right now my ride plate is about level with the boat, if I adjust it downward will that push the front down and in turn angle the place diverter in a more upswept position for a taller roost?

I have heard of people grinding the diverter so it angles up more but haven't heard if it works or not.

Will probably scrub off a lot of speed as the bow plows through the water.  Your fuel consumption would probably go up also.  IMHO, faster is better

I wouldn't molest the diverter nor set the plate down more unless your having a porpoise issue. If anything, I would adjust it up till you find the sweet spot for wot. Find a split bowl an go from there... Much better way to go.

That's the input I needed, thanks for the insight. Now I need to find some good used parts to install a split bowl and rooster booster.
