You can adjust the height of the biting edge of a shoe with shims.  Basically how deep in the water the biting edge hangs below the keel.  The opening size and shape can also be altered by grinding and reshaping or during its initial construction.  If you are one to spend a lot of time in test-and-tune with your boat, you will probably end up with several different shoe shapes as well as a selection of shims.  Most people either don’t get any shims or they get one and never use it.

If all goes well my next mod with be a bolt of shoe and ride plate. Diverter works perfectly. But I still get a little proposing when at full pedal, I'm spinning 5100 rpm's and I know it's has more in it. I get to gps is the yesterday because it was just me and my daughter at Elsinore, but every little bit counts.
