Ride plate on a cruiser

How effective is a ride plate on a cruiser?
I'm talking 21' and up cruisers.
They rarely see 60-65+ mph....
Does a hull that big and heavy really benefit from "thinking" it's, and behaving like it's bigger?

Put enough HP in anything to get it to rock back and it will make use of the plate. I would estimate on a 21' cruiser with the typical weight, we would be talking in the 800+HP range.

Just my opinion, the trick to a cruiser is water volume more than attitude. Build the same style cruiser out of T6 and we have a different discussion all together.

My Eliminator 21'  has one- ride plate, shoe, (back-cut, I think), loader, diverter. Done by G.S. Marine back in the day (~'95).
I've played with the ride plate angle some, and it ended up where it started.
I've never ran it without one, so I don't know if it helps, but can't hurt.
I'm not running crazy horsepower, either, maybe 470 hp or so. 'AA' @ 4900-4950(good air)
Moving the ice chest beside the motor cover made more of a difference.
A ride plate makes reverse "not forward"(virtually useless) vs. one without a plate.
A nice underwater step for boarding in deep water though.

I have one on my 21 hawaiian.
I had a purposing problem and added the plate and snoot and shimmed the plate down in the back and problem solved. I dont think it improved and speed factor thou

I have two 12 inch tabs on the back of mine. Also had a porpoising problem that they took care of. Overall the ride is much smoother now too. I have a basically stock 460 in mine and I get up to 58 mph when it's pretty smooth on the lake.

I've been looking at a ride plate or trim tabs for my mini day, after my minor engine make over I know have a  porpoising issue. Hoping a diverter and possibly some sort of plate or tabs will eliminate it.

jmo id check what degree your intake is set and go from there. most boats dont have there intakes set where they typicaly should be i know of a nordic cough cough that we reset the intake and put a machined one in with ride plate and it improved the ride

I got just over a one mph gain adding a droop and ride plate combo. I don't know which did what or if it was just a difference in air temp. But it looks 5 mph faster on the trailer.
