ride plate

Check out this ride plate.  Are these a pain in the ass to install?  How much fab work goes into installing it?  And, are they worth the work?

there is a lot of fab work.

you need to remove your intake from your hull and have it machined and have some of your keel grinded down. its a huge job.

A friend of mine paid $2500 to have a ride plate/shoe added, a inducer added, pump rebuilt, and a little bit of bottom work done. Lot's of labor.

place diverter makes a droop snoot with a bolt on ride plate (no hull or intake mods)

just did my boat for ride plate setup=the hardest part was getting intake out=i machined it my self and all fabrication =really not that bad to do=nothing to be in a hurry on=wwill be out on memorial weekend to check out results=have about 200.00 into doing it.

Just finishing one up ride now. It's not the standard shoe/rideplate, didn't have time to take the motor and intake out, and neither the effort  ;D. But it cost me $65 in aluminum, and the rest is fabrication, cutting, and shaping... we'll see how it goes this weekend

That ride plate on E-bay is missing the most important part and the hardest to make... the shoe.  I'ts the piece between the plate and the intake.  It needs to be cut such that the leading edge matches the u-shaped rear of the intake and has a dado joint for the plate to sit flush with.  To make a long story short the +$50 wanted on E-bay would be better spent if you had a good shop like MPD install one for you.

Place sells a ride plate that bolts on their droop, nothing a race boat would use but it has had some good results on lake boats. Do a google for Place Divertor and you'll see a pic of it on their website. It's purpose is to get more of the boat out of the water resulting in less friction/drag, I believe.

Send it to Jack. My dad just did and it cost $350 for the machine work, shoe, cradle & ride plate. If you look at jacks shoe and compare to anyone elses, you will know why he charges what he does. They are a work of art and are worth the money IMO.

i just bought the 4 inch ride plate from panther. it looks way sweet compared to my 2 inch one. anyway cant wait to see how the boat rides

Here's the rideplate/shoe I'm just about done fabricating. Still got to drill some more holes into the intake to secure, and then blend the shoe part.... I'm thinking a radius shoe, any thoughts?
