correct me if im wrong.....
for a berkeley, this is the order the items go on....
split washer....bend washer open to fit around cable then bend it back into flat/closed position
rubber bushing/seal...which is also split to go around cable...open it and wrap it around cable
split washer...same as the first one.
you should now have the rubber bushing between two washers.
slide this down cable into transom adapter. theres a small bolt, not split, that slides down cable behind rubber bushing and screws into transom adapter and squishes it.
as bolt tightens....it presses against washers and transom adapter which make rubber swell out creating a seal against transom adapter and cable.
