Just wanted to get everyone's opinion/input on an idea.

I had posted earlier that the boat that I had recently purchased came with a Drake pump.....after a lot of thought and advice from the pros im going to drop the Drake pump and replace it with a Berk JC that I have found.  My question is....if I am going to all the trouble to replace the intake and pump should I set it back?  I have read that it is not benefecial for every hull.  My hull is a 1975 Eliminator 18' Bubbledeck....if I should set it back my second and third question is how far back and should I set the motor back or leave it?

Since you are doing the intake anyway, Just do it! Set the pump as far back as possible, hand hole outside the transom. Only a few hulls don't like setbacks, like Millers, that I've heard. I should've done it to my Saguaro (bubble deck) to gain some interior real estate.

From what I have been told, if the ride developed a porpoise it can be corrected with cavitation plates. I'm not sure though, my challenger is set back molded in from the factory an the hondo is standard. Never changed one to set back yet...
