Shoe but NO ride plate

Just kind of thinking out loud here.
With more power in the future, and the boat already has static plates, kind of thinking, maybe I'll just do a shoe to make sure the pump is loading properly.
The intake already has to come out to be reset so....
Yay.....nay.....

How much more $ and work would it be to add a ride plate?
I would think it would only help once set up properly.  ???
Can you have it set up for a ride plate and just bolt one up later if you think you would need it?

It's a simple addition but the boat already has cav plates.

Let me say it like this.

The intake will be in your hand. Why not cut it? you can always install a stock depth straight shoe in it. Wont be able to do a damn thing once it's installed...

Then again I'm retarded that way...  :o

That's kind of what I thought....
The motor don't make any power right now so I'd hate to be chasing a handing issue when I didn't have one before for no reason either yet I don't plan on yanking the intake later either but I ain't skeered.

You can achieve loading the pump with different loader grates and even run it a little deep like I did to keep the pump loaded

I'll probably just reset the intake, throw more horse power at it and go from there.

A ride plate takes about 10 minutes to bolt on and costs less than a tank of fuel in that barge...why not keep the cav plates and add a ride plate?

The shoe doesn't only load the pump but also adds lift. When you add lift the boat needs something to rock back on. That's where the ride plate comes into play. If you are going to cut the intake for the shoe why not do the plate too. It's only going to help. Especially with that big boat and more power.

Also, my boat has cav plates and a shoe and ride plate set up.  :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:
