Title: Splash back
Post by: stuey93 on September 28, 2016, 08:14:12 PM: Hey guys I vaguely remember a thread about guys that were getting splash back on their motors seemingly from their diverter as they were getting off the gas coming to a stop. What were they doing to stop this from occurring? I'm running an 18' Dimarco Berk JC with the newer style Place Diverter

We're going to need more info. Either have someone sit in back and watch as long as they know what they're looking at or point a Gopro at the area.

I'll try to get some footage tomorrow. I was just hoping someone remembered the other thread.

Indeed.

For starters, how are you getting out of the gas?

What position is the Diverter when you drop off the throttle?

Does it do it every time?

When you say motor, how much of the motor gets wet?

Post by: stuey93 on September 29, 2016, 07:21:04 PM: Tried off fast off slow, diverter up diverter down, forward neutral reverse positions on the shifter doesn't seem to matter with some throttle control I can minimize it a bit but it's a pain in the ass having to worry about it every time. Back half of the motor gets wet water slung all the way onto the back half of the intake.

I've never had a problem with it although i get water spotting on the bottom rear 2-3" of my headers which I run dry for some reason. Maybe certain hulls/ pump/ hardware combinations cause it? I dunno but maybe the low controls are a possible solution?

Post by: Cliffjumper on September 29, 2016, 11:58:30 PM: I have this same problem with mine. Check the bushings and o-rings on your set up. I had some wore out ones I replaced and just waiting to go out to check to see if that fixed it

I talked to Tim at Place Diverter and he said although rare it does occur with some hulls where the water will sometimes come off of the control arm and follow the cable up causing this. He suggested making a shield to prevent this. Has anybody done this or have pics of someone who has? Thanks

Post by: 86caribbean on March 09, 2017, 05:21:00 PM: Talk to Tim at Place Diverter and buy the low profile forward/reverse cable, arm and bucket and your problem will be solved. I had the same problem with my boat, it drove me nuts, but the reverse splash is gone now.
