mr beerjet the expert or real close to, due to hands on experience what is the diff. in the berk jet by JC-JE-JF and JG already know the A is for alum impeller but what is the better unit and i am using it with BBF on a 21 tahiti. thank you
Do to lack of smilies in your post , I'll just answer the part of your question that is of greatest importance to me and everything else will be secondary and should be taken with a grain of salt as this is the internet .
JC - being the most common on a 21' boat is actually the best in theory I guess since the viens in the bowl extend clear down to where the nozzle is thus giving you good flow . This bowl configuration doesnt give you the adjustability of a split bowl . With lower HP numbers , you dont really want adjustability , you want better flow .
JE - Just looks like a set back JC to me , other than the hand hole being outside the hull and your thrust point being further back , which are all pluses .
JF - I can only assume that the JF is a mutation of the JE . I dont know .
JG - Is actually a newer version of an old JB . Both being split bowls and coincidently both having the same parts to a certain extent . What the split bowl offers is adjustabily to add a droop , mini droop , straight droops , wedges , extension and anything else people can dream up . All this hardware really benefits you in a 18er or something light . A 21'er would need alot of HP to really benifit from all this extra hardware and adjustability .
Everything I've learned was from reading and asking alot of dumb questions . I still ask alot of dumb questions just to get the people who do know there shit to spill as much info as possible , even if I aleady know the answer . You can never have enough info !
I hope that some one will correct me if there is any false or bad info I may dish out . If no one is learning from others experience , then its not worth having a jetboat IMO.
Here's a link with some good reading , but not much history .
