Which impeller?
« on: April 09, 2013, 10:05:30 PM »
Alright guys, I have done everything to my capability diagnosing the motor (454) and I still can't turn over 4400 and about 48 mph on my sst. I was going take the jet apart next and rebuild it and possibly throw a different impeller in. As far as I know the motor is stock. Any thoughts? Ps it's for sale right now if anyone is interested. Thanks guys

Several questions for which you will probably only be able to answer a few (if any, so don't feel bad).

What motor?
Advanced timing at over 3000RPM?
Vacuum generated at WOT?
What cam?
What carburetor?
What ignition?
Verified the linkage at WFO?
Any clue where the cam timing is?

If you have an "A" or a "AA", your numbers seem fair for a stocker... The 48MPH, could just be a heavy boat.

And BTW, what is for sale? The impeller?

Things on the hull to look into, soft spot in the bottom?
Extreme hook?
What nozzle?
Boat ride wet?
Have a bunch of weight in the bow area?
Trying to go fast with 10 people in the boat?
