Wth!? Please help.
« on: May 17, 2015, 02:21:35 PM »
Fairly new to jets and I have a beloved panther pump. I went to grease the zerk in the pump. And notices this piece of metal in side. Any idea what it is from and what todo about it? Pretty sure it is not supposed to be there.

I can't tell from the photo what exactly it is. But yea, it shouldn't be there.

I'm not very familiar with Panther pump so I don't know if it has a clean out port. You may have to unbolt the nozzle to get ahold of it.

Yeah it's a thin piece of metal about a half inch wide. There is no inspection port. Do I just unbolt it and slide it apart?

I have never taken a Panther apart but I doubt it's different than a Berkeley or Jacuzzi. Just unbolt the nozzle and pull it apart while it's on the trailer. You may need to unhook the steering also.

Will do! Does that part turn when the motor runs?

The part behind it does, the impeller. The piece that the metal is stuck in should be part of the bowl and does not turn.

Is that piece keeping the engine from turning over?

No but just got done having a starter issue. Makes me think more then the starter. With the new starter it turns over fine.

Look in through the intake, could it possibly be an impeller blade?  If it was, that's where it would be if it didn't pass through.
