A day on Mead

Called up terry and told him the carb was actin up on the southwind...it wont idle for shit...so him and his old lady came out to mead with jenn and i for the day.....perfect day...he showed me around the lake and took me sight seeing.

turned out the carb has a drip on the passanger primary...im going to pull it tomorrow morning and take it over to have him go through it.

heres some pics...

at first we set out in search for the infamous sunken flatty....and we came across gilligan's boat.....who knows how long its been there....it was pretty far up the shore.

then shortly after we found the flatty....its not totally under water anymore....its in bad shape covered in muscles...

then i noticed how many muscles were all over the rocks i was walking on....tore up my feet.

i dug out some of the rocks at the transom and stuck my camera up in there to see if i could get some pics of anything inside the boat....kinda creepy blair witch like.....couldnt see anything....

next stop....sandy beach....

so we arrived at sandy beach...we were one of 3-4 boats there...one of which was a 40-ish foot fountain.....on the deck was a girl laying topless....and they were doing a topless photoshoot with another girl. i tried to get a few pics without being too obvious, so look in the background of the 3rd picture...you cant see much, but theres naked girls on the bow

next stop....hoover dam...

I'll be doing Brads carb this week. I belive it has a condition some of you could watch for. While tuning the idle mixure screws I got no response from the one on the passenger side, i could close it all the way and it didnt die. On the other side I could hear fluxuations in RPM and I could kill the motor if I got too close to closed. So, I pop off the breather and my suspisions are confirmed, drip drip drip from the booster on that side. I's been my experience that this is caused by an internal leak between the metering block and the body of the carb. It may be cured w/ a gasket (hope) but i have found the main body serface to be cupped in the past, probably from over tightening the bowl screws. If this is the case I will take a sharp single cut file and draw file this surface flat again. Hope some of you can use this info and maybe save an expensive carb or two.

Found something else on Brads carb. There is a screw on the bottom, opens the secondaries, right jrork?. Brads is closed, if I crack it that closes the primaries more making the idle curcuit? more responsive. I think it was jrork who fired his blower motor and it wouldnt idle down, told him to check that screw, the primaries were too far open on one carb.

that was after filing for about five minutes. I put the file on there and put one finger in the middle and move it back and fourth just to the outside of the big hole in the middle. The two big holes towards the top are booster ports. After filing for about 30-40 minutes the one on the left, the one that was leaking, finaly cleaned up.

Ok, brad is on his way to Parker. We cured the drip but that side is still unresponsive. The other side wants to run at one turn where it should be after cracking the secondaries a quarter turn. It had been wanting 2 1/2+ turns. Will probably take a closer look into the metering block next, I've seen people screw the needle right thru the metering block before.
