Big River is the spot . The Big River Inn is literally spitting distance from the ramp and if your lucky enough to get a room on the butte you get a bitchen view of the river and a lwan , but I for one like to walk around bare foot in my room so I'll be at either the Bridge Inn or the Best Western in Parker , we'll see . Bring a t really good anchor or a big fukin rock . There is a current along the shore . That is an absolute must , dont even for half a second think your gonna get away with one of those folding triangle lookin things . Forget it ! Or bring a big fukin rock . ;D I'm not going to bother with starting a list , since those always change and no one can keep track .
I'll try and post whatever pictures I got . See you guys there .

.....check the Mead threads, flat as a pancake and not another boat in sight. Been on Mead and Mochoppy when it's rough and the only time the ole lady ever said "turn around" was at Parker.

We got a big ass house in a culdasac, all are welcome. Two rooms empty w/ bath between. Lots of cheap rooms around and Buffets.

I'd rather fight the river instead of fighting 3' genuine swells :o Even the 60 somethin foot houseboat we in was doin some serious rockin and a rollin out of Callville Bay . Make no mistake about it , Mead is one of the best places to go . When I made a decission to drop my wife off on a beach because I was absolutly sure I was going down on my way into Callvile just to get gas . The boat we were towing had to be left at the beach aslo because as I went through the swell , literally , a foot of water was going over the bow .
That weekend it wasnt crowded , not a holiday weekend , just one day where the wind picked up a little and I genuinely was fearing for my life as the swells were higher than my bimini and breaking over my carb and headers . I was litterally surfing into Callville Bay .
Of course on sunday we retreated back beyond the Narrows and weathered the rest of the day there with no so much as an ounce of wind . Sunday there wasnt a soul out there and it was smooth as glass all the way into the bay . I have found a new respect for Mead . Turbo350r was there with us and he'll tell you the same . Besides , does anyone remeber these . huh . :sly:

Ok, so Mead does get windy, in spots. What about a trip up to the Delta? Lake Nacimiento? There's tons of places to go, Mead just seems fairly central

I'm down with mead and have tried to get people to go for a few years with no luck untill recentlty of course .
This is where I've spend a few June summer days and couldn't imagine being anywhere else . Smooth water all day is what I'm talkin about here .

Ive been yo big river once for fathers day so I dont know this to be fact but dont they usually have a goog gathering of old boats and cars? The rivers a bit narrow but its a fun place! Im still a fan of martinez/fishers. Ive always wanted to take my old man out for fathers day!

The RV park is has been a private park for about 2 years now so you'll have to launch at the "Dock" down river .

my vote is for mead i can get discounts on hotel rooms, the water has been perfect you dont have to worry about the water level to be up to run in fear of hitting sandbars. i run the river, i like it mead can be like glass and a lot calmer then i have seen the river :D
I've never had to fight 3' rollers and wakes coming over my bow at big River but it looks like I might not make this trip either.
Last time I was out there , this is as busy as it got .

I stayed on a house boat out of Callville Bay and we drove it up past the narrows .
We beached it just past the Narrows and out of the four days we were out there , one day was the day I seriously feared for my life .
All the other days were OK , Sunday and monday it was eerie how calm it was out there .
I'll try and shoot my load towards the end of the season on a trip out there.

Intersting story about Big River.
It's on the Cali side yet runs and operates on the AZ side .
15 minutes below the Blue Water Resort.
The current runs pretty good and therefore there is damn near NO CHOP OR WAKE .
This is the same stretch of water where you'll find V-Drive Regattas being filmed ,
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY no less !
Imagine that .
V-drives running a buck plus , in the middle of the day , all day , any day .
Fathers day is a big weekend for the V-Drive guys too .
Ehhh , water dont come up till 9ish .
By then your nice and lubed up anyways .
I love it .

I was at naciemento this weekend and it was amazing. water level is a little low but not to low. it made for nice beaches and more camoing in the overflow. Water wasn't to dirty either.

just so you guys know, the big river inn is a short walk from the only bar in big river. and you should WALK there. there was quite the patrol last year in the area. 40 some duis in 2 weeks.
the v-drive regatta is no more. but the family that puts it on still has a ton of flatties show up at their house. alot of nice 100+ hardware shows up.
I will be out there. if you see me come by and get a bud light, even though i know 90% of you drink coors.

It's really a easy ramp there's 2 ramps. If the wheels spin put it in low and click the ebrake on one click, it helps to keep the wheels from spinning

with the southwind i never had a problem but i havn't launched the day cruiser yet, with the sport trac, which does need to go deeper. i am up a little with a small lift and some 33's
the only time i ever had a problem was at elsinore :screwy: which is the least steep ramp i've been on but it's just so damm slippery. :mad:

The reason I'm asking is because I wanted to know what sand bars everybody would be at so I can know where to go. I will be down at Water Wheel (30 minute boat ride down river from Big River) and I am trying to see what the plan is.

well i pretty much only go up river. still 86'n some gremlins out of the boat, so if shit happens its alot easier to float down river than up. i stay in the last park in big river. its the last park before lost lake which is like 11 miles down river

I've never been there Nick, so I'm just gonna go with the flow. I have no idea where anyone will be, and we'll prolly just figure it out once we get there. Nordie and I both have Blue popups we'll likely take to park on the beach somewhere, and I'll bring along this cool little propane grill I picked up. Should be fun! Finding anyone should be easy. i think we'll mostly be at the beach/part right there in front of the br inn...then makin runs to where ever throughout the day......just look for the socaljetboat easy ups. it aint lake mead....it should be easy to find people.

I know I will find you guys without any issues, what I am trying to figure out is if I should trailer my boat up there from my park or if I should drive it up there. I think that is about 35-45 minute boat ride and this will be my 2nd time out with the boat, so I am not sure if I want to push that far.....
So I am trying to figure out how I want to do this, if I knew you guys were coming down river towards my park I'd just drive the boat and not deal with all the towing it up b/s.
But if you guys are pretty much just gonna stick around BR I'll just work with that. They sell gas on the water there right?

I've only been on the water near Big River once, but ran from the upper dam down about 2 miles south of Big River and didn't see any fuel on the water.
I Fuel up before I launch and keep a couple extra fuel cans in the truck ;D

Aiight, reserved my room for Friday-monday morning. Got two beds incase Chromey's wife has a change of heart, lol. Should roll into town by 10 or so, only a 3 hour ride, so maybe B-rad and I can get some head start on the river.
Now to put this PD on the Moo, and fix the alt belt issue, and tighten the pan YET AGAIN, and find yet ANOTHER missing header bolt (It'll be under said pan, they always are). I'm running outta loctite red, lol.

The PD is an easy as pie install.
Those MIGHT clear the headers. Had to install some of the bolts with the headers loose, they can never fall out, but can get loose. All the ones I locktited have stayed in thus far. Been a progressive on going program for unruly header bolts, lol. These Rewarders are a PITA to install, had to use about half 12 point and and half hex head on them when I put them on to begin with. No way your gonna get a socket or box wrench on some of them. The hex heads are the ones coming out, so prolly just not getting them tight enough.
It'll be Ok, the loctite does seem to be working for now, lol If not, maybe weld them to the heads?? :screwy:

Funny you mention that...put normal header bolts back in...them allens pissed me off...took me longer to get the old headers off then to install new ones...used all 6 point stuff and no issues what so ever...guess ill find out when I test it

The allen head Idea crossed my mind when I put the thing together initially, but I didn't try it because some of the tubes will not allow you a straight shot into the bolt either.
Either way, they're fixed now, lol. only about 6 more that I haven't given the 'treatment' to for mis behavin'.

the water hasnt been coming up till later. but this isnt a big deal for the people on this board. now if this was socalwakeboardboats.com then we would worry about it. i will let everyone in on a little hint if you dont already know. with the lower river, your best piece of equipment is a pair of polarized sunglasses. aim for the green spots in the water and stay away from the brown. we can leave my park when the water is still 2 feet down and go all the way up to the damn.

Engine is in and nearly ready to go. Got it installed and broken in yesterday, today got a little wiring cleaned up and tomorrow will reinstall the alternator and interior ;D
Had one little (expensive) mistake during the pre-start frenzie, when attaching the battery cable the alternator wire touched the oil pan and arc'd pretty bad and zapped my MSD :'(
Yea, I'm looking forward to getting some time on the engine this weekend (I'll also have plenty of rope, just in case ;) )

Well, I equipped the Moo with a tow rope, 4 fire extinguishers, and a new set of jumper cables JIC Keith. (Lost those in the Blue Meaney ordeal) You should be ok, I don't think this area is that big, but you know better'n me.
Moo is coming too, I think, the damn dog found a place on the floor of the boat she was OK with when I flared her up again in the 'rage. She wasn't real happy, but she stayed put. I think she may spend the day with Brad and Callie if it doesn't work out, lol. We'll see. Gonna try it a few more times and see if she's actually that nervous about it. I think she'll be ok once she realizes it's not a bad thing and when we're moving in the water she'll be all into it. Ducks, well I worry about them. She's gotten 2 that happened to land in my pool, and she's now up to 28 pidgeons! (We keep track in the patio door jamb). Good dawg!!!!
Still gotta get those Box anchors and bungee ropes youins are talking about. Had the anchor on the Blue one when she sank to try it out (Never got to), I guess I'll just wait and get 'em in Parker. I'm sure those guys know what I need.

Sucks about the msd box keith...did the same thing putting mine back together but to the water lines for the headers...little bit cheaper...seems like we all forget about the alt wire and try welding something metal...glad to hear your going to make it...hope the motor turns out good...we'll see you n fam in a few days!

ray it goes from just above blythe to the dam just above the parker bridge, although big river is only the top portion and has roughly 10-15 miles of riverfront. you can float for hours, just depends on how far down you want to go.

If coming from the 10 stay away from desert center unless you want to wait 45 minutes for a pilot car at the 29 palms stop sign. Or you can have my luck and get to the stop sign just to turn around and get back on the 10. You'd think they would have a sign up at the exit. F-cal trans :mad:

Hopefully they will stay on. Probably a good idea to do that PRIOR to the DMV. That place will drive you crazy and you will want to rip things apart. I'm sure you already know that. I feel I got very lucky when I got my speeding ticket on Rice Road. Wrote me up for 75+ in a 55. He had me at 80, and didn't note that I was towing at the time. Between the ticket and on-line traffic school it was still $300.00, but I was expecting closer to $500.00 :banghead:

What a great time! It was awesome when we were all rolling up river to the cove about 12 boats deep. Badass. The bar on Saturday was a damn good time too. It was good to finally meet all of you. We need to do it again.......SOON!

Had a great time. Boat ran good until the last run on Saturday (thanks Brad for the float & Tow) when it damaged push rod and rocker. I'll start pulling it down tonight to find out what happened.

I'm quite sure B-rad's bride filled up a memory card or two. Left my cam at the motel on saturday :banghead: Was only 4 of us total floating on Sunday, so not much to take pics of. Gonna d/l the one from my phone here in a few though. Brad will probably post up tomorrow sometime, he may even be back in Vegas now.
I planned on heading to vegas with the boys, but after my phone finally dried out (Don't ask), I was being blown up with 911 messages from work all day saturday and sunday (Almost tossed the phone back into the river). I guess they have a serious "issue" going on. (Nothing to do with my, so why do I gotta come in? I dunno).
No major problems, other than my battery issue, Rivertards weird blowing up scene, and Crewcheif's engine (Hope that shit is minor Keith! Heard about all the shavings tho).
Brad's raceboat even ran well after Ralph put on a different carb (I won't tell).
Wished I'da taken the camera in the end on sunday, as I'm pretty sure Brad's roost from the Southwind is touching the Parker bridge. Sawit as I followed him through it, then from the front as he went through it a couple more times. Mines nowhere near it, but I'll figure out a way to increase it a little, but I'm just happy to be able to do it.
Brad and I got back after our last float (I actually didn't run the boat much on Sunday, was texting a LOT! lol. Also 'til I'm sure twas the battery 100%, didn't want to go down river too far) And Glasscutter (John) had liquor on the park table. Whew! was a gift, not to drink it, Saturday night was enough, lol.
