this will be my first time on the river in Laughlin, a buddy is stayin at the pioneer and we may park on the beach there but I want to run down a bit and find a better spot, how crazy does it get? I've got the wife and kids...

Casino row is like the 405 freeway at 5:00pm. Rental skis thick as flies. Taxi boats don't care about you, they have the right of way (so they think) There is not enough beach @ pioneer to chill without swamping the boat.

Head south past the 5 mph/harrahs area, and they mean 5 MPH. Bullhead Comm Park has a bunch of rentals there, too. 1/4 mile down is a huge wash that intersects the river, stay to the Nevada side, Its not a sand bar, its a rock bar.

Further south, there is an island on the AZ side, (River Mile 270), decent sandy beaches, some are a bit of gravel.
Laughlin Bay Marina is on the NV side about a mile down, and Big Bend a mile or so from that. Heading down river, stay center, or left of center to Big bend.

Beyond Big Bend, Keep right of 'The Bush" in the middle of the river. River sweeps left, and Boy scout camp/Pipeline are on the right.
Boy Scout Camp has a few beaches, as well as the few islands on the AZ aide. Pipeline kinda sucks, swift current and hard rock beach, and too shallow to deal with the current.

Further south, the channel is right of center, the AZ (left) side is shallow at this point. Lazy Harry's is on the left, turn by the flags (AZ Veterans Memorial Park) Watch for the shallow entrance, decent beach to park the boat, grab a burger and a beer.

Rusty's marina is the next 'channel' further south, has a bait and beer shack. Iguana's (Mexican food) has a small dock maybe 2 skis and a boat's worth.

Beyond that, the channel is on/nearer the NV side. Rotary park, AZ side, home of BHC-PD boats...

This is usually far enough for me on a Wednesday afternoon cruise.

Watch/read the water levels http://www.usbr.gov/lc/region/g4000/hourly/DavisParkerSchedules.pdf
3 units minimum for me, been out in 2 :o , but 4 is better, 5 is like a lake

Good luck and stay safe on the river

I'll be on the water just north of the 10 freeway. Last weekend was crazy low, but Monday and yesterday were much better. I hope the water is up this weekend!

Careful going to lazy Harrys  I was there last week and the entire channel is really shallow  I pulled enough river grass out of my pump to fill 3 five gallon buckets

Last week they were flowing max 3 units, at 11 am, thats at Davis Dam, more like 2-3 pm for lazy harrys. Before that it was likely 2-2.5 units.
I've had 'pump salad' more than once, but its better now with the new water inlet pipes, I used to get real bad and had to wait till the merc-lawn mowers came thru

Started at 2 units, went to 4 by mid afternoon, Have seen more than one merc wanna follow the big azz daycruiser, not realizing its a jet (black spinny shiny thing= river brake, break?  :screwy:)

Launch it and stand in the burning sun on the launch ramp, in water waist deep, ya know to help find the water leak.

head south to around goose, dropoff or socal island, that's usually where we're all at.

edit-also Mark does the Cibola down the 78 go over the river? I want to do some shooting Friday afternoon and also take a peak around there. Are you interested?

Once you pass the bridge and the houses and all, you will come up to a point on the right, and you will see a bunch of reeds right before it. There is a 1 boat entrance to goose flats there. Go around the point and down a little ways and on the left you will see a island depending on the water level, can't miss it on the left. Usually boats hanging there.

They are about 8 or so miles I think there's really only a few major sand bars heading south one on the cali side and one on the az side, those will be the first ones you come across heading down from Blythe. If you're planning on heading down I'll message you my phone number so you can text and what not we'll find you if you don't find us first. We'll be the drunk people shooting shit and playing really loud music :D

Yep I am, I wasn't planning on going until the later in the day time, but if we head out like Saturday or Sunday evening I'm down, we can talk at the park.
