Had a couple stress cracks, chips and other random holes on the deck so I did all the glass and body work to make it perfect again. Here's a few pics of the progress, today is day 2 of the build.

I blocked down all the body filler and now its time to prep it for primer, I finished the body filler with 150 grit. Then also went around and blocked the whole boat down with 150 which took a whopping 20 minutes hahaha.

Yanked all the old foam out. Also reinforced the hatch where the hinges bolt on.

Im guessing its from people putting ALL there weight on that spot when there either getting in or out of the boat... Should be stronger now, and we'll make sure not to stand on it.. The hull alone weights about 120 lbs hahaha.

Hahah where have you been man? Didnt you see any of the pics from my Scorpion build from when I painted it at my shop haha.. I also started a thread that I have a booth to let you guys use if you want!!! ANYONE from SCJB is welcome to use my booth at no charge!!! Yes no charge!!! And as far as how much I would charge to paint a hull.. It all depends on size, colors, body work, material and what not.. So theres no way I could say with out seeing it..

Decided to go with a glossy single stage black on the bottom. Came out real nice! Its like a mirror hahaha. Now I just gotta finalize the colors for the top. I really like the look and colors of this Daytona.

Got the boat flipped back over and started blocking the primer. Were thinking something along the lines of those orange samples. Also got the pump all prepped and primed.

I just made the paint, this is a GM color. Color code 77u . Its like a Pearl tangerine. I might even through some Pearl in the clear :o

To use your paint booth what would I need to bring Im only going to clear the hull

So today I color sanded all the orange with 1500, then layed out some stripes, going to paint the graphics metallic black and silver with the Pearl orange in the center then ill stripe it all with a couple diff color pin stripes..

To use your paint booth what would I need to bring Im only going to clear the hull
Sorry for the late response I just saw this.. You will need your clear gun, clear, mask/respirator, masking paper, sand paper (if not already prepped), masking tape, 12 pack of corona, and a big pizza or carna asada tacos. Ill supply the booth, air hose, lights, and air. :thumbup:

So here's the metallic black sprayed on, then I removed the paper and masked the black. From there I sprayed the metallic silver down, now its time for more clear.

Unmasked it all, based the pump in silver and black and re cleared it all. Oh ya and the motor finally showed up lol!

At first I didnt like the orange color....but once you broke it up with the design on the sides, i now really like it.
What are you going to do on the bow? Put some hockey sticks or scallops on the bow :thumbup:

Thanks for the input brad!! And I wasnt sure on the bow, nothing I was laying down did the trick.. I have to save room for the cf #'s on the bow though and didnt wanna over do it with graphics.. I might do a lil something more later and just spray them on top of the clear. I think once its all asembled it will start to fill in the empty looking spots.. Ill probably go with a charcoal grey tweed with either orange or black vinyl stripes coming down.

What's going in it for power? That thing is begging for my spare merc 2.4L powerhead and a right angle drive. What pump was in it?

Hahah, it had a Brut 440cc 2 stroke 50 hp motor that was damaged, It needed a piston, head sleaved, and a cap for the head. I found all the parts and it was about 250. Then found a motor that was the same exact price running perfect shipped. So its getting a 440 and the pump is called " The Hawk " Im guessing its a Hawk pump.. Theres pics of it in the begining of the build!

200 Hp would be better....I'll even supply the right angle drive....aluminum front diff outta something 4x4 with one side welded up and other side spooled

just got caught up on this build. I was out of town all last week. Anyway this thing looks bad ass. i dont know anything about the HAWK pump but i am guessing its the same as the mini berk. If you give the guys at skat track a call they can make you a custom impeller for about 250$ it will be stainless steel and any pitch you want. I thinkthe max is a 21degree. I have the brute 440 motor in the little hydro and it goes pretty good. but not good enough. I am going to send the pump to JBP for them to look thru it and i will most likely get a 21 degree impeller for it. If the little 440 motor wont push the 21 degree i have a 750cc sitting here just waiting.
anyway I might have to take you up on the offer to use your paint booth. Does the offer include the use of the spry guns? anyway i will pay you for your assistance as well.
Looking forward to the mini boat regatta this summer. We are going to storm Pirates cove. I think this is the 9th mini boat build iknow of going on this winter. not counting the two that i am workign on. lol

19ftDANA, I had to register here after you linked your build in my thread over on PB.com. This is a badass little Scram and I love what you are doing with it. Since it's your girls boat I wont try to talk you into dropping a bigger motor in, but if it were yours be damn sure I would be, haha. That thing could be a little rocket. It's such a unique boat and I like what you've done with the paint. Get any work done over the weekend? When you expecting to hit the water?

Color sanded and buffed the boat, coated the floor with a rubberized undercoating then carpeted it. Also started assembling the pump. yyyeeEEAAHH MON !

I was actually planning on using a rubberized coating on the inside of my boat including the bilge but was steered clear of doing that because a lot of people said it would soak up oil and stain. I still think it would have held up good, especially on the interior. Did you spray it with a gun or was it the rattle can stuff? It looks really nice, especially with the carpet too! I think I am going to go with black HydroTurf on the inside. The pump looks awesome. Looks brand new on there. My pump and nozzles were all flaking and corroded. I used sand paper and finished with scotch brites to get it back to a smooth finish but they desperately need paint now. :) Did yours require any sanding or prep to get them looking like that with paint?

Just saw your Bow Design on the SCJB Instagram!!! SKILLLLZ dude!!!! Looks so sick!!!!!! It would look perfect to put your CA numbers in silver right on that black line on the bow. Maybe that's why you did the design like that.

Thanks Lil wake, and yes I plan on putting the Cf #s in the black areas on the upper sides. It took a while to think of something because I didn't want to just lay the #s down right over graphics so I had to some how make a graphic that has a specific spot just for the #s.

Whats up lil wake? Ya a few updates have been done, paint/pin striping is all done, cf#s all done, name on the back all done which is " Sun Bum's " ... Ill post a few pics tomorrow, Now its going to be time for all the accessories and what not.. Hows yours doing? I cant wait to gps this thing and see how slow it goes hahahahha..

I can't remember when you last saw it. It's running now though. It ran 45 but with some minor changes next spring should do 50 with the stock motor. Next project this winter is the vinyl graphics. I have them designed but need to have them printed. I am incorporating 3M's Carbon Fiber Vinyls. In Jan or Feb I will start fabbing up the waketower and swim platform so it's ready to wakeboard behind in spring! :D
I wanna see pics of the pin-striping, CF numbers, and name on the back!

Been a while since I've done anything on the mini. Today im taking the seat in to Martinez marine and hopefully get to test her out Easter weekend. Alison is Soooooo excited to get to finally use it Hahahaha. I'll post more pics when I get the seat back and of the motor install. I'll be installing Tonys old 440 from his mini hydro and then she'll be complete.
