1:12 Scale Live Steam Train
« on: June 07, 2011, 11:39:09 PM »
I'm sure most of us on here can't afford to be "into" steam trains as a hobby but... I thought I would post some pics of a 1" scale steam train that a friend of mine is looking to sell.  If you know anyone with a fat wallet that is involved with these type of trains pass on my info.

Thanks

Crewchief

He also has a tender car that will go with the package, I just couldn't get pics at this time.

It takes thousands of hours to make these live steam trains.

They also have to have the boiler inspected and certified as safe to operate.

Oh yea, I bet they would. I did not even give that a thought.  It seems it would be about the same price to operate and maintaine a full size one.  They are fasinating though.

I used to have a client that was the USA distributer for alot of the companies that make the VERY high dollar trains.

Unbelievable amont of money that people will dump into them!

I have seen the price sheets on them ranging from a few thousand to over 100 Grand for a complete train with engine, tenders, luggage cars, dining, etc.  Depends on the scale, what the train is a replica of (guess theres some pretty famous trains), who made them, etc.

$22,000.00 Fat  ;)

He is talking about taking it to one of the Barrett Jackson auctions.  One sold with a lot of accessories for around 75,000 at auction (not as nice or detailed as this one).

You'd have to sell your royal fleet to finance the train and rail system.

Besides, I don't think the steam engine needs a 8-71, 10-71, 14-71 (whatever it is you're building now)  ;)
