I was almost 295lbs and at 5'11" thst put me on the fat as a hog description.... couldn't run a hundred yards to save my life.  stress is funny and people react to it differently ... for me..... I eat.

I've lost 30 lbs in 5 months..... no diet, no super exercise
 plan.

I eat the same foods ( except I cut out ice cream by the bowl b4 I'd go to bed)
and have just cut down the amount I eat. it was hard.  still a struggle, but getting the weight off is important to me
try different things..... a combination of suggestions I've read here could be the answer for you. there is no SET way to  do it..... try something and give it a chance to see if it will work, then modify, go another direction. The
gym may work for some.... just walking.... bicycle etc. find what works for you.and good luck!!!

that battery switch is down pretty low in the engine compartment .... do you worry about the placement?

What paint brand and color is that blue? Looks very similar to Chrysler blue but a little more pale... Exactly what I'm looking for!

heads completed new seals/ valve job / springs..... block / honed decked / all new bearings / new cam on the way as well. Not going to make it for this weekend though.....

I am looking at replacing my current set up for roller gear..... anyone familiar with this???

before I pulled the motor, I felt a little play in the driveline when I reached into the bell housing and pulling on the driveline......
AFTER I pulled the motor I grabbed the pump shaft and move it...... nothing. Solid .with zero play in it......I'm wondering what would do that .....it's the old style Rockwell driveline. The I joints seem solid..... it was bolted tight to the flex plate .....the pump shaft looks good..... spins freely . the splines look ok as well as the shaft on the driveline itself

and ideas?

The bearings looked good, as does everything else.
I've never built an engine, but I'm stoked about doing it.
I now know what I have so far as the components. I'm hoping to sell the intake I have and get a  Wieand Stealth intake and a different cam.

The one I just pulled is a Clay Smith unit; I called them to find out the specs and the girl that answered the phone had me talk to a guy named George....we talked about jetboats ( he said he has one) and what I wanted for my boat, he was very cool and we spoke for about 30 -40 minutes. he told me he used to "race a little" both cars and jetboats and had to stop after he had a bad wreck.....he gave me a recommendation for a little hotter cam and told me to call him back after I had the heads tested and checked the springs.

I didn't realize until after I had hung up and went online and did some reading about Clay Smith cams that it was the owner George Striegal I had spoken to!
 I was surprised at the time he spent with me, he acted like we were old friends.   very cool..... very classy.

 I'm taking the heads and block tomorrow for hot tank, magnaflux, and pressure test.....New freeze plugs etc.

Also to pressure test the heads, check the springs as well. I'll be able to have a fresh motor and after I get the pump back I'm hoping to get it up and running before the end is the season.

I want to thank everyone here for the suggestions and help that has been given. I've learned a lot and appreciate it. Perhaps next year a trip out west will be in order.

here's where the questions start.

I have identified most of the internals

it's a 4 bolt with a steel crank, 3521 (that from what I have read online is a good one). slightly domed .30 over pistons / 990 heads and a 3885069 GM intake manifold dated 11-2-65; 
Carb is a 3310-1 - 780 Holly 
 I'll have cam specs in a day or two ..

I am looking for direction on the intake.

I was thinking about selling the current intake and replacing it with something  newer...... I see a lot of mention of Vic Jr's......

opinions?

I ask only since this
manifold is almost 50 years old, and newer ones must have better flow characteristics right?

pulling the motor in the AM.

I am going to check the bottom end and RR the freeze plugs....it will give me a chance to see what's in the motor.
Hopefully nothing is hurt and I can clean it up repaint it as well as put a
new timing cover on it ( the current one leaks a little)

The pump is going to ship to Central Texas Jet-boat for a rebuild.
