The No Wake Zone / Re: Question about a good hull to buy?
« on: July 25, 2010, 12:09:58 PM »
Thanks for the reply's. I'm probably not going to go with a tunnel hull or picklefork, I've noticed there quite a bit pricier for a clean one. I'm Looking at spending around 8k turnkey or 4-5k without power, thanks. oh by the way I called a guy about a white 72 or 73 rogers he had for sale on here but had already sold it. I really like the lines on that hull design and the guy says Rogers is one of the best ever made...anybody know where ones at?

The No Wake Zone / Question about a good hull to buy?
« on: July 25, 2010, 01:04:45 AM »
I recently sold my drag car, and abuncha other crap and got out of racing altogether, the ol lady said it was takin up too much time and money so I bitched out and sold everything. Now here's the sneaky part, we're talking about buying a tame jet boat that's fun and dependable for the lake, but eventually I want to try my hand at boat racing and see if I have the nuts for it. My question is that I'm tryingto figure out what type of hull to go with. I'm looking for something well built with a good rep, rides smooth turns good has an early to late seventies look ,but it can be an 80's that will also make a damn good race boat down the road. If you want just give me your top five favorites. Thanks guys.

V-Drives / Flat bottom Question.
« on: September 14, 2008, 06:20:56 PM »
Was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between a flat bottom and a runner bottom is as far as design, ride qualities and what not. Also I've noticed that as far as an all out race boat it seems like all of them I've seen are flats, I guess what I'm asking is performance wise is a runner comparible to a flat? Thanks

What is a D.D. transmission? When you shorten the transmission I'm guessing this is a custom bellhousing or do they jusy cut the original shorter and tig weld a new adapter on? Thanks for the help one last thing, I know a powerglide is good for higher horsepower but what is the performance difference between it and a th400?

This may seem like a dumb question but I was wondering whenever you use a transmission in a v-drive do you use a converter or is there a special kind of coupling shaft made to bolt to the flywheel that runs directly into the transmission, in other words direct drive instead of fluid coupling you get with a converter, thanks.

Jet Pumps / Panther pumps?
« on: July 20, 2008, 02:38:47 PM »
Was curious about panther pumps and their performance. How dependable are the behind 500 or so h.p. can you trick them out like a berkely and what would be involved if I ever wanted to swap it out for a berkely, thanks.

The No Wake Zone / New to jet boats, Hornet or Kona?
« on: July 10, 2008, 03:50:06 PM »
Can anyone tell me anything about a 78 hornet hull and it's characteristics, good or bad. Also I am looking at a 74 Kona hull and they seem to be pretty respected, any info on them would be good too, thanks for the help.

The No Wake Zone / Does anyone know anything about Mariah hulls?
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:32:37 PM »
I'm new to the jet boat scene and have found a pretty nice 20 foot 78 Mariah jet boat. I've looked all over the internet and can't find much info on them and was just curious if they are a good boat to build. If I buy it I will be putting my old drag car motor in it which is a 496 with about 650 hp and a buttload of torque I realize I will probably have to go with a stronger driveline eventually but right now I'm just looking for a good foundation to start out with, would this be a good hull for the build?
