Projects / where to mount solenoid?

Trying to decide on the best place to mount my solenoid on a 455 olds. Anyone with a 455 got a spot that works for them. I'm outa good ideas but there's always some floating around in here. Was going to mount it to the back of the block but I'm worried about heat.

Fuel pump went bad, cant find a mechanical for an olds. Allready set up for electric pump but I dont like the way it was set up and my pumps are goin bad prematurely so theres something wrong. problem is the two side tanks on my tahiti jet are fed from the top and all the electric pumps I can find are gravity fed. I guess I can drill and tap the bottom of the tanks but then the fuel pump is in the bilge area. My question is whats the best way to route a fuel system for a tahiti jet boat with two side tanks for an electric fuel pump?

If the only difference between the the two is strength then im good with aluminum. Is this thing as simple to put back together as it was to take apart. anything I should be watchen out for. I get nervous when things look easy, makes me think Im missing something. Im just going to be switchen the impeller, bowl oring and transom gasket. anything else I should be doing. where do I order parts from?

cruisin on the river and sucked up some rocks wich chewed up the impeller pretty good. Got it all apart and wondering what to put back in. Its a 12jc-A berkeley with a not so stock 455 olds probably 400 hp maybe little more. should I go bigger on the impeller. Is going stainless steal worth the cost? You guys got any suggestions this is my first time pullin one of these apart.
