The No Wake Zone / Magazines for the troops
« on: March 26, 2009, 04:05:57 PM »
Hi Guys
i am in the process of getting certified for scuba diving and i joined a dive club. they are in the process of collecting things to send to some of the troops over in Irag and Afghanastan.they have about 5-6 contacts that they are sending too, who then disperse the items among the other men in the unit, platoon whatever. i was wondering if anyone on here had some old Hot Boat mags or hunting mags or anything like that they might be willing to give. if you are interested in sending these to our guys over there just PM and i will send you either my  address or the people who are doing this from the other site.(with their permission of course). there are other things that are needed also but i thought that the mags would be good. if anyone is interested in sending other things PM and i will let you know what is needed. thanks alot guys.

The No Wake Zone / what do you do
« on: February 17, 2009, 09:02:33 PM »
Hi Guys.
sorry this might not be the place to do this but i need to blow off some steam. i just received a call from my ex wife telling me that my not yet 15 yr old daughter might be pregnant. supposedly happened while she was here visiting me for xmas holiday. she and her boyfriend only went out three times while she was here and was supposed to be with his parents or sister all the time they are together. she is not sure if she is or not but ex bought a home pregnancy test to find out tomorrow morning. really feeling like i need to go and have a "talk" with him and his parents. but i really dont need to be in jail either. right now i am so pisssed it isn`t even funny. just dont know what to do and feel like if i keep it bottled up i will explode.
again sorry if this isn`t the place to do this just needed to for my sanity. otherwise i`m liable to go and do something i will be sorry for. thanks for letting me rant a little on this.

The No Wake Zone / home depot

A Touching Home Depot Story

Charlie was fixing a door and found that he needed a new hinge, so he sent his wife Mary to Home Depot. At Home Depot, Mary saw a beautiful bathroom faucet while she was waiting for Walt, (the manager) to finish waiting on a customer.

When Walt was finished, Mary asked.. 'How much for that faucet?' Walt replied, 'That's pewter and it costs $300.' My goodness that sure is a lot Mary exclaimed. Then she proceeded to describe the hinge that Charlie had sent her to buy, and Walt went to the back room to find it.

From the back room Walt yelled, 'Mary, you wanna screw for that hinge?'

Mary replied, 'No, but I will for the faucet.'

This is why you can't send a woman to Home Depot.

WarZone / jelly fish bad day.
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:11:18 PM »
Are you having a 'jellyfish bad day'?

If you don't laugh out loud after you read this, you may be in a coma!
This is even funnier when you realize it's real! Next time you have a bad
day at work ... think of this guy:

Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He
performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail
he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 On FM dial
in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, which was sponsoring a Worst Job Experience Contest.
Needless to say, she won.

Hi Sis,

Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad
day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I
thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so
bad after all. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must
bore you with a few technicalities of my job.

As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the
office. It's a wetsuit. This time of year the water is quite cool. So
what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water
heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea.
It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the
diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose. Now this
sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no
complaints. What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take
the hose and stuff it down the back of my wetsuit. This floods my whole
suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch.
So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. Within a few
seconds my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but
t h e damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened.

The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit.
Now, since I don・€・t have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick
to it. However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate. When I
scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish
into the crack of my butt.

I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His
instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other
divers, was all laughing hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three
agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before
I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression. When I
arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet.

As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running
down hi s face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt
as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I
couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.

So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse
it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt. Now repeat to
yourself, 'I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.' Now whenever you
have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?

May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day!

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 455 oil modes
« on: June 25, 2008, 01:14:26 PM »
Hi All
i bought a 455 olds engine. i believe it was in a jet boat but not sure. the guy i bought it from said he got it when he bought his boat. it was a spare engine and he had no need for it. i`m not much of an engine guy so my question has to do with the oil modifications. what are they and do you really need them and how do you tell if they have been done. thanks

Project Boats For Sale / title info
« on: April 05, 2008, 04:56:30 PM »
Brad.
sorry if this isn`t where it is supposed to be but i couldn`t find a spot to put it.
i may have run into a snag with  that 73 Montaro. when we bought it all we received was a bill of sale. well come to find out it may be a long process. so far we have not been able to find a HIN. there is an old California boat number on the hull and a sticker.
i was wondering if there was anyone who might be able to contact the tax commission or tag agency in California and maybe see if that number could be used to find a title or a HIN. if someone is willing to do this i will send the info. the tag on the boat is from 1990.  if i can find a HIN it would make it so much easier to title here in OK.
also really  don`t want to put a bunch of money into just to find out it is stolen or something. any help in this matter is greatly appreciated. thanks. jim

Project Boats For Sale / 1973 wriedt montaro
« on: March 29, 2008, 09:04:28 AM »
Hi All
i have been reading this site now for a few days and just joined. have a couple of questions. first of all does anyone know anything about this boat. second of all it is a project boat, there is no interior and no engine. the boat is 23' long and about 90" wide. it has a cuddy cabin that is about 7' long and about 40" inches tall. needless to say it needs some work. i will try and get some pics up soon. i`m looking for idea`s on where to start. the boat also slopes from front to back or back to front depending on how you look at it.lol. i was thinking about putting a full floor in. i was also thinking of raising the floor up with a grid style support to hold down weight. i want to raise it approx 6". then i was thinking of doing a wrap around seating from the right hand passenger side to the back bench and around to the left hand passenger side. any opinions or comments would be welcome. i plan to put a 460 bbf into it. also it has 2  fiberglass gas tanks on either side. i believe them to be about 30 gallons each. is there a way to know if they are still any good. they look good from the outside and i believe there is still some gas in them. not sure on that though.
any help would be greatly appreciated. i also may have to do  some glass work on the hull. there is a small crack on the bottom of the hull and also a corresponding crack on the floor. not sure how much trouble this will be to correct. again will try and get some pics up soon. as i know you will need to see pics of the cracks.
don`t have a lot of money so will be doing most of the work ourselves. any spare parts that you would be willing to get rid of would be welcome. thanks for reading. jim
