Hulls / stress crack repaired
« on: October 14, 2013, 09:25:28 PM »
I got my boat back from Pat (he runs a shop behind Kachina in Phoenix) and it's done right. He repaired the stress crack and a few rock dings on the keel. The gelcoat was a perfect match. He even touched up extra spots. I didn't have to pull the motor, he yanked the interior and laid it up thick. It cost $1500 for a lot of work. It took a couple weeks, but you can't rush work like this. I can't wait for the government to get back in business so they can open the ramps at Saguaro and canyon lakes. Thermo kit is in the mail from Hardin Marine, stereo is installed, and the sweet dooley style scoop is mounted (thanks santeerob619). Pic's to follow. If you need hull repair in phoenix, look this guy up. I got his number from Phil Bergeron. Great bunch of guys!

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Flexplate ringing
« on: September 14, 2013, 08:43:20 PM »
I have a 3 point mount in my boat with a 454, and the flexplate rings at different rpm's. Is this because the balance of the motor is off causing a harmonic vibration at those rpm's? it comes in around 3200 or when I jump on it. What can I do to stop the flexplate from hitting the bellhousing besides having the motor balanced? The previous owner said he had the flexplate replaced and it does look new. Will replacing the flexplate with a flywheel help?

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Gelcoat cracks...HELP!!
« on: September 03, 2013, 04:47:39 PM »
If your gelcoat is cracked on the bottom of your boat, like along the runners, and water seeps in through the glass do you just have to repair the gelcoat or do you have to patch the glass? The glass and stringers are solid. there are a few bumps and bruises on the hull that need attention but the cracked gelcoat is making me worry...I'd post pictures but its pretty dark under there. I've read the posts in the tech section but couldn't find anything regarding gelcoat cracks.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / MSD PRO BILLET 8365
« on: August 05, 2013, 03:48:51 PM »
HELP!  I have an MSD pro billet 8365 HEI distributor on my stock '87 454 and have no idea on how to set it up. The vacuum advance is not in use. Do I set the timing at like 4 degrees BTDC and utilize the centrifugal advance weights or pin it at full advance, say like 22 degrees? I am also not sure on how to "pin it" at full advance...and if it's set at full advance will I overheat while idling through the no wake zone?

Jet Pumps / Jetovator
« on: July 31, 2013, 04:51:39 AM »
Hey guys, I need a jetovator for my berk JG. Should I get a brandy newest one or does anyone have any leads on a used one? Manual stringer mount is top choice, but hydraulic would be ok too.

Jet Pumps / No reverse with ride plate
« on: July 29, 2013, 09:31:38 PM »
Newbie Pete in AZ here, took my boat out this weekend and found out that I don't have reverse or anything close to it. The Berkeley jet dumps right into the ride plate and gives me a slow forward. Should I get a droop snoot and jetovator? or is there another fix that I'm overlooking? Thanks.

Does anyone have a suggestion for insurance on my kickass jet boat? My carrier wants $450 a year and that sounds high. Thanks!
