Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Single carb tunnel ram

I picked up this running BBC for my 18' Rogers to swap for the current Pontiac that came with the boat when I got it. It has this single carb tunnel ram set up but I've heard that trying to run a single carb on a tunnel ram doesn't work very well. I love the look of a tunnel ram but I want it to run the best it can. So my question is... Should I replace it with say a Victor Jr intake or what would you engine guru's recommend? I'll be running a single Holley 830 cfm race carb with manual sec.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Gen V 454

I found a newly rebuilt 454 with a Gen V block, I was wanting to run a mech fuel pump engine but there isn't a boss on the block so I'd have to run an electric. My question is... How many are running an electric fuel pump? I have a brand new Holley Blue pump, how well will it pull fuel from the tanks when my fuel lines are on top of the tanks? It was my understanding that the pump is supposed to be mounted below the tank level so it is gravity fed and will then push fuel to the carb, which seems impossible with my lines on top. Any guidance is GREATLY appreciated

Looking to upgrade the cam and lifters in my 400 Pontiac and would like some help... I've narrowed it down to a few choices and a couple say hydraulic flat tappet and a couple say mechanical flat tappet... What's the difference and which is better?

The PO had a cluster F$&K of -8 and -10 AN lines pieced together and now I'm trying to redo them and wondering what size I should be using?? It's going from a Berk 12jb to a Pontiac 400

Has anyone ever thought about putting a big aircooled turbo VW engine in a small (18' or less) jet boat?? No need to run water lines since it's aircooled and less weight... My 2387 turbo engine I had in my sandrail put out 450 hp which is more than I have in my boat now... I understand why you wouldn't do it in a bigger boat but in a small, lightweight boat it might work... What do you all think?

Hulls / 78 Sanger pickle fork

What are everybody's thoughts on this hull?? There's one for sale on CL with a blown BBC that looks pretty awesome... Contemplating selling my 74 Rogers (that I haven't even had in the water yet) in favor of the Sanger... So my question to all you good people on here, that know way more than I, is... which do you think is a better hull? Both are 4 seaters and need painted

Anybody's thoughts on these 2 styles of boats is greatly appreciated

Hulls / Gas tanks bolted thru hull??

Boat Showcase / My new 74 18' Rogers

400ci Pontiac with h-beam rods, roller rockers and 11:1 compression (or so the guy I got it from said lol)... New interior and carpet... Still need to clean up a few things but am pretty happy with it... Should run pretty good

Hey guys, new the forum and just picked up my 1st real boat (technically 2nd but I only took my 1st one out once then sold it so I don't really count that)... I picked up a '74 18' Rogers with a built 400 Pontiac and Berkeley pump. I am in need of a set of snails for Nicson logs or interested in switching over to OT headers but can seem to find any for a 400 Pontiac. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
