Boats For Sale / Re: 1974 Spectra 18 NEW PRICE
« on: June 08, 2010, 04:48:00 PM »
I would like to, we have been so busy that its hard to find time to even take a $hit. lol
I dont know if i'll have a boat, the spectra is going up for sale and im going to build that 20.5 Rogers.
I figure with the twin turbo motor we put together it should move pretty good, and yes im going to paint it. I can't stand the (as Beerjet put it) "skittles vomit" paint job on it. It will be red and white,im going to do a complete build in the projects section. Matt

I was at the sand bar one day hanging out sitting in the bow of my boat and this 100 pound black lab jumped on the bow of my Spectra. He left six claw marks all the way up my bow. As i stood there furious trying not to "over react" to the situation the owners called the dog back to their boat and took off. I was afraid that if i ran over there i would end up grabbing somebody by the neck and buff the scratches out of my bow with their face. Matt

Boats For Sale / Re: TURN KEY 74 ROGERS
« on: May 25, 2010, 08:52:22 AM »
Well the Rogers has been in the water 3 times since Sunday. We through a droop on it yesterday and it seemed to like it, changed the oil and tightened a few things up. She runs bitchen and carrys well, were looking for a diverter but that can wait. I have to say i wish my first boat was a Rogers. lol Its ok though when the twin turbo motor is finished in the Spectra all that Rogers will see is ROOST. Matt

We just went through this problem with the Lavey Craft. The Lighting headers hit the tall valve covers, so we put 1 inch spacers to kick them out and they still hit.  :banghead: So a set EMI were installed but they hit the valve cover also. So....... we used the slanted outdrive covers and presto. We got the valve covers from Dana Marine and they clear the stud girdles and rollers. The Lighting headers also hit the stringers so that also is the reason they were not used. Matt

He might have the driveline that doesent take a PTO. Some of the older drivelines have the PTO built into it. If is a newer style (1310 or 1350) than all you have to do is buy a new PTO that fits the Oldsmopile.  Matt

115
Nordie is correct on that, water injected headers have no water running through them at idle(at least there not supposed to) where as the water jacketed headers are a header in a header so they run water through them at all times. Matt

Project Boats For Sale / Re: Bahner 18' jet project
« on: May 11, 2010, 05:24:35 PM »
Thats a Bahner flatdeck i believe. I just finished one up, the motor was nothing special just your basic stock BBC. I put a tunnel ram with 2 600 vaccum secondary holleys and put an A/B impeller with droop and place diverter. The damn thing runs almost 80 and keeps gaining. I would of liked to keep pushing the pedal but its not mine ;D. Awesome boat BTW, this was the first flatdeck Bahner ive ever driven and I have to say i was impressed. For having only 300-350 hp thats really fukin fast IMO. Matt

Were getting ready to put a blown injected motor in a jet and its going to run on E85. From what ive learned is that the fuel cant stay in the line for more than a few days and you have to use stainless tanks. I guess the E85 will corode  aluminum.  Matt

The water outlet is right on the back side of the bowl but on the suction piece. Theres 8 3/4" bolts that bolt the bowl the the suck housing and in between two of the bolts. There should be pipe threads inside that hole.If your looking at it from the nozzle side of the pump it will be on the left side. Matt

120
The engine is fed from the jet, if its a Jacuzzi when standing at the back of the boat it will be on the right hand side. The water comes from the jet into a tee and is fed into the front of the motor.(where the water pump would go) And out the themostat housing. Matt

121
I dont know anything about media blasting but i do know that a good ol DA sander will do the trick just fine to get that old paint off. I would like to see pics of the pump, you said you think its a jacuzzi. Whatever pump it is it looks set back and Jacuzzi did make a set back pump in the 70s and i believe they were all YJs, at least all the ones i have seen. Cool looking float. Matt

Jet Pumps / Re: Wiring Diagram/Instructions for Hydraulic Diverter
« on: May 04, 2010, 03:48:59 PM »
Theres not relays but there is dioades (sp?). If your just running the up and down or neutral return switch that comes with Bennett pump then it wires directly to the switch. If you run the switch that goes on the steering wheel then you have to run dioades.

An up and down switch goes like this

                                   Yellow   ign    Blue

                                   Green    ign    Red

I have the diagram for the wheel switch but im to retarded to scan it and post it. If you give me a call i can fax it to you or explain it over the phone. Matt  928-230-4189

Hulls / Re: What to look for in a race hull
« on: May 04, 2010, 01:09:03 PM »
although you can go up to 24ft total length, i highly suggest not going that large if you plan on being serious about it. the larger boats havent had much success in the class as being competitive. if youre just looking to try CJ once or twice, go for it

i would stay in the 17-19 foot range...full stringer...low profile...not too steep of an entry...something solid, but light.

Your not taking a stab at anyone are you Brad? lol Matt
