Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: NEW Motor by JP MARINE
« on: May 05, 2010, 02:06:50 PM »
No, thank you for the concern.  The thought of water getting into the MSD was talked about when he mounted it there but JP has never had a problem with that location.  It doesn't get that wet there.  I was going to get the "Marine" one, but DAMN its like double the cost.  I had this same unit in my car and use to power wash the engine all the time with no issues?  I was thinking about putting some type of silicone or even some vasoline around where the wires are to reple the moisture.

The Marine one is sealed to protect it from causing spark and avoiding fire/explosion and is a must with a sealed engine compartment and some say a must on all marine use, Including most Coast Guards and water craft enforcement. I spent the extra cash just for the lack of hassle reason alone.

Some might say that's not a good place cause of the heat and vibration also along with the constant temp/humidity change might/could cause condensation to form inside the box causing problems.

When I saw it I thought it looked cool and thought about the down falls of putting it there because I need to mount mine soon and was wondering myself.

Hope others chime in because I don't know if I'm right or wrong.  :)   Does look cool, Nice float, Welcome to the site..      Roy

Monogahela???  WTF is that?

lol.. :)   It's the name of a River, One of the 2 that make/start The Ohio River where they meet at "The Point" in Pittsburgh. Think it's the name of the Indian tribe that lived on the river banks. But It's also the Name Of a big Area/community that runs along the side of the river, There is a bridge near you that was made in a steel mill in the "Mon Valley" along with other steel made items.

Huge history was made in that valley from George Washington/french/indian battles to Government top secrete airplane crash landing on the river cover up to this day is un-explained.

I love thease colors ;D

That is REALLY Sharp, I like it a lot, I'd only change the black into a deep Ma rune/dark Red, All the Colors on that are kinda unique except for the straight Black and that's the only reason I'd change it, Besides that it's a real Looker.  Who's is that?..

Well I'm going to pressure test every piece and connection on both my tanks prior to installation now after reading this thread. I don't want this problem, sounds like that may cause me to break things, Like putting tools though closed windows and kicking garbage cans.  :)  ;) ...      Roy

The Ol"lady use to say "I want good pizza like that" every time that commercial came on till I said "You know every booger, Poop, pee or piece of dirt that's on his hands or under his fingernails is in that Pizza" Now when It comes on we both say "EEeeeewwwwwwwww"....   :) :).   I don't like strangers touching my food with out gloves, I don't even like people breathing on my food.

We do go to "Ichiban" A Japanese restaurant that they make the food in front of us, I have tried so many times to throw a egg in the air and catch it while breaking it with the edge of a spatula over a frying pan, breaking the egg into the pan but keeping the shell on the spatula that Sandy tells me not to try it any more I'm wasting to many eggs..  :)  That chief does it every single time, I watch him from the bar waiting for a table and Never seen him F@ck one up. Guy is amazing.  I asked him and he said it's a "Ancient Japanese secrete" with a  ;)..    :)         Roy

Aluminum = up to 550-600HP without problems
Bronze = up to 800-900HP without problems
Stainless = anything over 800HP

I'm sure people have run higher HP on the aluminum/bronze, but why take a chance?

450hp is not much over a mild build for a jet.

Your Numbers are slightly higher then I was being lead to believe but we are real close, So close I'm sticking to my plan to not touch my pump/alum impeller till the 500ish HP engine is in and bugs worked out, Then diverter/bronze impeller and only then add the NOS that will give me bursts a little over 600 HP..   Thanks for the info makes me confident in my plan...    Roy.

Unless you're going to be putting some serious HP into this thing you don't need a bronze impeller.

What do you consider "Serous HP", I'm under the belief that bronze/SS are needed for 450 HP +. Am I correct?..     Roy

Replacing Stringers is not that difficult but it is a pain in the ass and more expensive then you would think, more then I thought and I'm alway's rebuilding something. I have over 800 dollars in epoxy, fiberglass cloth/roven/matt and wood to replace the floor and both 1/4 stringers that I lengthened.

If you enjoy doing the work like I to, then I think it's worth the time and money, When I'm done I'll have a totally rebuilt boat that I know is done right, and I can fill confident in my boat because of that and thats priceless in my world.

Good luck and welcome to the site, You need any help feel free to ask, I'm a few steps ahead of you so I can prob save you some time/money.

Roy.

(edited to add) Pics man PICS!!! We just don't ask for them we demand them.  ;)  :)

I agree! AMEN!

But Roy, going after Wall Street and Day Traders IS the right thing to do, and the main reason and cause of the debacle we are in today. Not a new revelation, their shit started in the 70's. Al-Qaida coulda done us all a favor, in a round a bout way, if one of those planes had hit the NYSE building and NOT the World Trade Centers. But I'll save all that for another thread or PM.

Ray

You said "The Main reason" is Wall Street and That's kinda true cause you can link everything business to wall street one way or another, But For the most part I disagree with that cause it's just to vague.

The Main reason we are in this "Debacle" is from a Piece of crap call Barney Frank and The Dem's That backed him up and not fix Fannie Mae And Bernie Mac Like the Republicans been asking for for many years, But blocked and denied many more times by the Dems. And here is my proof.

I'm more a Independent because I don't like how the Republicans are so religious But the majority of our problems can be blamed on the Dems and I proof it with vid's of them speaking there words..

BTW, I look forward to beers and debate with you and other from this forum. You guy's are good at it.   8)

I can tell ya nightmare renter story after story, I have had them leave cars, trucks, dog's, cat's and all there belongings and of course leave me with the bills.

I had a renter take out a window in a garage so he could put a wood burner flu pipe through it, I told him that was not legal or safe and he had to remove the pipe, He did, But he did not replace/repair the window so the thief's came tru the hole in the wall and stole all my copper plumbing/pipe, I had this garage set up as a professional detail shop, all 3 stalls/bay's had 3/4" hot and cold water, His excuse," I did not tell him to put anything back into the space. I just told him he had to take it out." He shortly received a eviction notice.

Had a guy quit paying rent, won't answer the phone or return calls/letters, I go to the house and all his stuff is there looks like he just left, After asking neighbors and them leading me to a local bar he hung out at I find out he's in prison and not coming home soon. I had to go threw lawyers to get written permission from him while in jail to release his belongs to his mother that wanted nothing to do with him and take all his belongings that filled a small house and large shed to his mothers barn 20 miles away or I was responsible for it till he got out years later. Took me 6 months of no rent and lawyer fee's.

Friend had a renter blow his brains out in his rental house and it was easier for him to deal with that then what I had to go threw.

I can go on and on...     Roy

In the Show one of the main cooks started cooking meth in his parents basement, He got busted and they used the bust as the reason/last straw to abandon/blow him off, They where cold about it. SO he went and got his crooked lawyer to threaten the parents to sale this nice house at 1/2 the price to his client or they would tell the authorities that it was a meth lab and was not razed and they would lose all there money/house. Not knowing his client was there son using drug money. Was funny as F@ck when son walked up with the key's and opened the door as there moving out.  :)  :)

It's a really good show but I warn you, It's additive.       Roy

There new Meth Lab in the Laundry mat really makes me think about real life labs, Just crazy.

Anyone know of unusual places Meth Labs have been found in real life?..  Roy.

I know people there also, I never jumped in Cal But I use to go to Eloy Arizona every Jan until my bud that I use to go there with died jumping off a bridge over the Snake River In Idaho

A lot of those jumpers jump there during the day and the B.A.S.E jump at night off anything high enough, Buildings, Cliffs, Antenna's/towers bridges. There fun exciting thrill seekers. Like most jet boaters.

I use to jump a very fast little hot canopy called a "Batwing"..  Roy

Being that I am a Atheist I can't believe I'm saying it. But in this case "AMEN"!!!!

What's been pissing me off as of late is how Obama is bragging about the increase in jobs and house sales in the last few weeks, Jobs and house sales increase every spring when people go back to work from being off for the winter and most people don't like moving or driving around looking at houses in the snow and kids are in school, I usually won't even put houses on the market here in the winter. I take most the winter off like a lot do.

With this health care total f@ck-up, cap and trade, Now there after wall street. There hurting all business. All this is making bigger more powerful Government and weaker poorer people and I'm afraid it's only getting worse.

I think you guy's should do it together and record and document it step by step for a balls out SCJB tutorial complete with Pics and video of how to install the whole Mount/Rail Kit. My opinion might be a LITTLE tilted this way since I'll be installing one shortly and I also don't fill confident about it yet.  :sly:  ;)  :) .   Roy
