Have you looked into (because i havent) just clear gelcoating over the factory gelcoat? The bahner is fading pretty badly, and while i can colorsand/buff it out it seems to fade quickly. Was thinking about having it done or just doing it. and re-clearcoating (if thats a word) the gel thats there.

my bahner has the original wood panel in the middle of my stripes on the front of the boat and down the sides.  the previous owner taped it off and sprayed white paint over it to cover it up.  i have a few holes in the transom from the old swim steps, holes in the front of the dash from the windshield that was there, etc.  at this point it just needs to be torn apart, sanded, and painted white.  i just dont want to hear the wife complain about the boat being torn apart.  haha. 

also if you look closely enough you can see the boats old name in the yellow on the top of the transom... PANTIES & BEER   :banghead: didnt notice it until i did a wetsand and a buff... the oxidation was covering it up.

take some 2x4's and chop em into 1' sections.  stack em on top of each other and secure with a screw, nail, etc.  doesnt really need to be anything crazy.  like making a stack of lincoln logs.  set the boat on that in the rear corners and the front bow.  (this was a junk hull so i wasnt really concerned and i only made 2x...)  its cheap and they're strong as hell.

judging by the upholstery and steering wheel its been neglected for quite some time.  it was probably roached when they gave it up and its even worse now that its been sitting.  if you need a big pit to throw money into and light it on fire go for it.  ive been there done that... twice.

high tq mini starter.   had an original ac delco style autozone huge starter and it was fine but i had 0 room to clean the bilge so it was swapped out from one i picked up on the steal from the long beach high perf swapmeet.  the damn thing cranks WAAAY faster than the old autozone starter did. i remember when i changed my mustang to a high tq mini and i was like "holy crap!" the difference is night and day.

guy is putting a 1000hp twin turbo coyote motor into a carbon fiber layed up daytona jet boat.  you can keep your 460 anchor.   this thing is gonna haul the mail.  im lookin forward to him finishing the build.  its about time someone used that motor as its a beast in just about anything ive seen it put into.

a bare hull doesnt exactly fly off the shelves if you catch my drift.  i personally wouldnt drop a dime into it if you have another hull.  you're not gonna see any of that money back.  strip the stuff out of it and sell those pieces. 

if you have the space to have a non trailered hull sitting around then go for it.  i was just giving you the option, i thought it was a big process to get rid of a boat... it was actually pretty damn easy.

go to the dmv, get a junk slip for it.  basically removing it from the dmv database.  then take it to the rialto landfill for like $50-60 depending on weight.

make sure u have a way to get it off the trailer.

if you're not gonna use the panther cover you should chop off those 2 brackets from the pump and grind it smooth... just another thing dragging in the water.  mine were chopped off of my pump in my old tahiti.

i thought i read a post (couldve been super old post) where your navi engine was apart.  looked like heads were off.  blown head gasket?

yup last month.  broke a timing chain guide.  so replaced cam phasers, VCT solenoids, timing tensioners, timing guides, timing chains, crank timing sprocket, head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, serpentine belt, thermostat, etc.  it was basically an overhaul minus the shortblock, which SHOULD be good for 200-300k in itself.  its all the valvetrain that sucks balls on these motors.  i had put it all back together 2x and then realized that the "R" & "L" on the cam phasers are from drivers perspective so timing was 180* out.  Took it to ford and they said i needed a whole new motor at $8100.  tried a third time and realized the mistake, fired up on the first try and runs fine since.  *knocks on wood*
