Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Unknowen Oil Leak.....
« on: June 02, 2011, 11:56:09 AM »
clean everything like crazy... go out and have someone else drive while you have your head shoved in the bilge looking and feeling around for the leak.  i found a small leak coming from my pressure sender but it was shooting upwards so i figured it was a valve cover or something.  after taking em off a few times and still not finding it i sat back there while someone gave it a few revs.  it only took one shot of oil to my eyeball to realize where it was coming from.

2 quarts should be pretty easy to spot.

Should be easily apparent with THAT much oil, I would think!

But getting someone (No way in hell I'd even do it) to stick their mug in harms way at speed in one of these things....good luck....

I couldn't even get Rivertard to do it when he heard the vacuum leak in Pickle to go and ID where exactly....... :screwy:

Start at the bottom of the engine with clean, white paper towels and work your way around and up. Should be pretty easy to find as already mentioned.

I'm gonna work on our friends into letting me miss the party. They're going to the river with us the weekend before so maybe I'll charm them then.

Tow the boat over.......That should give a hint!!

Do they realize it's the "Father's Day Float?" Or I think as Omar used to call it, the "No Skirts Trip".........

Engagement party? Really? I thought those things went away about the same time as Saddle Shoes..... :screwy:

The No Wake Zone / The Press release you'll never see..........
« on: June 01, 2011, 09:15:06 PM »
My Mommy sent me this!

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S.PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans:  As you all know, the defeat of the   Iraq regime has been completed.

Since Congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission inAfghanistan is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Afghanistan.  This action will be complete within 30 days.  It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists.  One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Afghan conflict..  This list is short.  The   United Kingdom,   Spain,   Bulgaria, Australia, and   Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list.  Most of the world's nations are on that list.  My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Afghan war. THEN EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER IT'LL GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world "Hell Holes" and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine?  Wrestling with an epidemic?  Call   France.

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social  problems we still have at home.  On that note, a word to terrorist organizations.  Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize?  Try Franceor maybe   China.

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, and   Russia.  Thanks for all your help, comrades.  We are retiring from NATO as well.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York Cityto begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in   Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded, and crushed.  I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this.  You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers, and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love   New York.

A special note to our neighbors:   Canada is on List 2.  Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2. Its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment.  I will have a couple thousand extra tanks and infantry divisions sitting around.  Guess where I am going to put 'em?  Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United Statesis abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway.  Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska- which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come.  If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above:  pick a country and move there.

It is time for Americato focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn tootin!"

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet.  It is time to eliminate hunger in America.  It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought.  Thank you guys.  We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought:  You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America.  Thank you and good night.

If you can read this in English, thank a soldier.

Yep.  Water's still a little chilly...too cold for weeds....didn't find any weeds last weekend.  Maybe you guys can suck up all the rocks so I don't ding the prop.

Besides, I think we'll be having fun doing rocket runs at 90 mph (well, maybe 85 with Skip in boat) between lost lake and big river all evening....should be able to make it there and back at least twice before I've gotta switch tanks....

I'm usually good for a rock or two........doin my part!

All that being said, and true, would that not also screw up the bore centerline being perpendicular to the crank centerline?

What can be done about it?  ???

Actually, when he's done with all this, I got a shipment of MetalWax for him to work over the engine with. As soon as we get to Big River wiith it, gonna hafta swap out the OT pipes with some new ones I got that Harry has for me. hafta meet him along the way........

Thanks for the info GT. My only problem with Amsoil is this, I can't get it @ the local parts house. I had Lucas Racing 20/50 (with a ZDDP additive) in it when I went to Parker in March. The run to the dam from Roadrunner I hit 280-320 F on my oil temp, pressure was in the 40 range hot, 25 at hot idle. I switched back to the VRI 50 wt and on a longer run my temp never bettered 250, pressure never dropped below 60. I'm liking the Valvoline  :)

They carry Amsoil in Auto Zone here........Maybe cuz of all the farms around??? Who knows, but it's there!

do yourself and get a DA, it'll rip thru that oxidation MUCH faster than that orbital and it wont leave your arms all tingly.

LOL, That's why the kids are doing it. I just showed him the big DA, he just didn't listen........crazy kid.

So for the past 3 weeks, I've had my slaves (Kids, their friends, anyone else dumb enough to come by, yeah I did a lot myself too) Grabbing sandpaper and wet sanding pickle down. This has been bugging me since I bought it. SO I FINALLY gave RJ the go ahead to hit it with the buffer and Meguire's Oxidation remover.......

Just getting started, but MAN what a difference! Once this is done...... twice (Told RJ It hadda be done or he wasn't allowed to go to his moms this summer...... >:D ) Then we touch up the deck gouges that were in it when I bought it, be a brand new Bass Boat!!

I'll get some pics after he gets done with round 2 and we hit it with some wax..........under the lights to see it well!

Do you think that maybe they line bored it BEFORE changing out the cap(s) (discovering it was bad) and didn't do so after that? Be willing to bet both #4 and #5 were replaced.......I'm with Pat, can't figure how they physically did that...... :screwy:

Good job catching it though!

thoughts go out to the families involved.  :'(

Eerilly similar story, and yes, hits home with many of us.
