Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Wiring color codes
« on: March 14, 2009, 11:35:53 AM »

Ok now im getting cables made for this set up on monday and just want to double check.. i dont want cables made and they end up being to short/long :sly:

So on this diagrahm it shows the wire to power the boat, alt, Batt cable, and starter cable all on one terminal.... Is this correct ?

I had an old tbird and the battery cable and starter cables were one on each side of the soleniod , maybe im over thinking this again..

Boat is completely wired except for battery and starter cables ;D

And no , you wont find no purple wire on my boat ;)

Projects / Re: Project Mooooooooo.........

Looks good.....

In the future, try a wing not on the top of the air cleaner.

 ::)

Well, yeah, that woulda been easy, were it not for the fact that the scoop and flame arrestor need to go on TOGETHER at the SAME TIME. And a wingnut would never clear between the top of the flame arrestor and the bottom of the inside top of the scoop.

This is how this thing was modified, I guess. No forethought as to assembling it easy. Going to fix that before it's next rebirth. But no way to tighten the nuts behind the carb if you remove the air cleaner base from the scoop!  :banghead: Thought of , and tried, that,  ;D

But it's on and secure, I happy! ;D

Ray

You have to excuse Jeremy , he dont have a scoop like that to put on his boat....................Or a boat to put a scoop on :D

Just razzin ya  ;D

Ray its looking killer bro ;)

And you should take the engine cover... ooopss i mean pallet for fire wood >:D

Jet Pumps / Re: Pressure releif valves
« on: March 12, 2009, 11:16:51 AM »
Not nearly as much as you might think , 15 to maybe 30 under some conditions, honestly folks these boats if you think about it were originally produced in the 70s with no valveing , no gate or ball valves at the jet water take off, no thermostat kits (excepting Berk Pakajets) with largley automotive type engines ,"marinized" with a set of exaust manifolds and a flame arrestor. no voodoo no high tech stuff! My first new Jet in late 75 had a simple single unregulated line to a T to the front of the motor then out of the top of the intake to the exaust thats it (its still running today that way without a hitch )  Tom

Wow that really makes you think, good info as always Tom..........

Now another question, what is the most pressure you can have before you lose a gasket and milkshake the bitch.

My pressure relief valve only puts out anywhere between 7-22 lbs to the engine

With the way they had it back in the day compared to now, and with all our new valves and goodies seems people have more problems now then back then... things seemed to be simplified then i guess.......

patha , welcome to So Cal......  Now thats said , im gonna jack your thread for a sec ;)

While using the "ball" valve by the drivers seat to control water to the headers , is the Basset "T" valve still in need of the Ball and Spring or can that be iliminated

Ralph's and I have obviously had similar experiences...you'll regret it.

Everybody ends up chasin wires at one point. its all part of owning a toy ;D

Gee, buy more wire................ or use what i have........ ;D

I can see if i bought this boat on the street and know nothing about it... but i am doing the work and even though i wont forget i will write down all the color codes for the boat for future reference..

One more thing to remember , im in bullhead not the best place to find brown or purple wire ;D
