Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Re: pro's and con's

Why? If it is not going to be seen it is a waste of money. Cf is very expensive and for how much you will be removing between layers. I do not see the benefit at all

I'm going to cap it myself, the inside is already done. I was working on the motor and took a look under the inside of the hull and seen that the two were joined together with glass matting and that made my mind up....

That glass bonding strip is how almost all hulls are bonded together. It is called tabbing. Don't be afraid to grind or cut into the hull to get a good working area. The joy of glass is you can just add more. If you have any questions feel free to post them up.

Looks like a Rayson Craft. Glasscutter, the funky thing hanging off the nozzle is the chute for the reverse thrust. Because it is a flatly the pump is higher up in the transom, so they have to drop the bucket down to get reverse to work.

How was the block? 8ba's are known to have thin cylinder walls and crack at the deck were the water jackets are closest. I know a few guys that deal in trad rods and are big into flatheads. I will put the word out for you.

Also.... Is it still standard bore? How was the crank (std. or under) if under how much? Does it come with water pumps?carb?

Well if you show up next week, you will be the only one there. You're gonna have to wait until next moth and take a chance. I also looked at it. It seemed to be fairly complete. Just didn't have that kind of scratch on me.

The No Wake Zone / Ar15 lower???
« on: January 17, 2013, 07:42:51 AM »
Your most likely gonna have to buy a un machined lower online and take it to a machine shop to have finished.

Just a heads up. If you do get an 80% lower it is only legal to own if YOU finish machining it. Otherwise the shop that machines it has to have a ffl. If said shop lets you on on the machining then it's legal.

Thanks for pointing that out...i had no idea easter fell on march 31st.

Does anyone object to moving this date 1 weekend earlier March 22-24? I cant push it into april as the first weekend of April is the Parker Circle Boat races.

Sounds good to me. I am going to try to make this one. Never been to Parker before

Jet Pumps / Berkeley white paint
« on: January 03, 2013, 10:05:42 PM »
Awesome, thanks for all of the replies everyone! I am just going to be shooting the part of the drive on the outside of the boat.  The part inside the boat doesnt look bad, so I am just goingto clean it all up.  How many cans should this take?  I was thinking 2 would provide several coats. I will also go with a blue paint pen for the lettering.  I want to do the lettering blue just because it matches the boat's color.

When I repainted mine it used just over one can, that's the suction housing and all

Jet Pumps / Re: Steering cable type?
« on: December 30, 2012, 08:26:22 PM »
My old rotary took the normal morris cable. With the pricw of complete steering kits nowadays (rotary and rack) it is almost better to just replace the whole steering sytem. I also recomend the racks if you have room for it.

That would be sweet. But then I'd have to change my motor mounts lol  merry Christmas everyone.
