It's heavier, more expensive, and tougher to find. I'm doing my floor right now and I bought the sanded 3/4 inch plywood from Home Depot and coated it with west systems epoxy resin.
From what I've learned, marine plywood is only necessary if you use it below the water line.

I originally had the 600 marine carb on it and when I put the 750 on it made a huge difference with power (and fuel consumption).

I have a Holley 750 marine carb that came off my 460. Worked great with my motor. Im rebuilding my engine and moving up to an 850. PM me if you are interested.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you pick those up from. I'm having trouble finding the long bolt style logs. Mine are pretty beat up and was looking for replacements.

Nice lookin boat. I have also always been fond of Chevys but you won't be disappointed with that BBF. My 460 ran for 34 years (I inherited the boat I grew up in) and never had a problem. I finally decided to rebuild it to supe it up a little bit.

That jet pump is one hell of a vacuum cleaner for the lake bottom. Deep clean water saves the pump from damage and prevents filling the block with sand/silt.

I discovered this when I pulled my engine apart for the first time. It's amazing how much sand a 460 can hold in the water jackets. My garage looked like the beach. Havasu is a sandy lake.

It's not blown. Just a built 460. I know the logs limit how big you can go with your cam due their lack of scavenging abilities and what not. I was hoping that opening the logs up would be beneficial with my limited options.

I have log manifolds with the 2 7/8 hose fittings. I've heard of people machining the flange off so it will accept a 3 1/2 inch hose. Has anyone on here done this? If so, does it make that much of a difference or is it not worth the price of machining and new exhaust tips??

Holley 750 cfm marine carburetor. Vacuum secondary and electric choke. 76 main jets and 6.5 power valve. Just put a fresh rebuild kit in it 2 weeks ago. Selling it because I'm moving to an 850.
Asking $275

Intake manifold. Cast iron BBF cobra jet with big runners. Has some surface rust and could use a paint job. Great intake. Just heavy. I understand these also make a fine boat anchor.
Make an offer.

Oil pan. Stock BBF front sump. No dings, dents, or cracks. Just needs some paint.

On the lake I start with it just a little bit open (1 or 1.5 turns) then just idle around the lake and adjust it open or closed to achieve 180 degrees. Depending on who you talk to they may adjust a little warmer or cooler than that but 180 seems to be the average at idle. As far as the garden hose it depends on your water pressure. Mine is pretty high so I only have to turn my hose on about half way.
You typically don't want to go above 14-15 psi or you risk blowing through gaskets. That regulator might be stuck or bad. You can take it off completely and just use the gate valve.

Make sure the gate valve is open. (Not all the way or you'll blow a head gasket)

Make sure the passage between the pump housing and the water hose to the block/exhaust isn't clogged.
I had seaweed in mine one time. Was getting hot fast.

Converted my D3ve heads to roller rockers (yeah it's a ford). Now in the market for new valve covers. Do I need to get tall ones or can I use the stockers with the conversion?
