Wanted to put a layer or two of fiberglass on it to keep it from back.
Cloth or mat or both and how many layers.
I don't plan on putting a ton of work into it.
I would just hate to put a shitty paint job on it and still have the cracks come through.

When i did my SWTD the deck was covered in small cracks. i sanded the whole deck down to bare glass , ground out the big cracks. Then I put 3 layers of 1 oz CSM. kinda over kill but its solid.

Haha traced the circle and drilled holes to fit the jigsaw blade. Wd-40 and a good metal blade.

i got the scoop mounted to the tray today.
I am using dzus fasteners on to mount it to the tray.
I drilled 1/2 inch hole then counter sunk the fiberglass so the dzus fastener would sit flat.
I did all of the holes and marked the scoop tray. Then i pop riveted the dzus fasteners on the scoop
after that i pop riveted the wires that keep the scoop on the tray
its getting there

Here is the latest video I made of it. I posted it up once but then it stopped working.
I will continue to update this baby as I do work on the boat this winter.

Haha thanks Just Electric, The drag boat took a long time to build. Almost 4 years. But we can say thanks to the asshole seadoo driver for killing my Sw18 and state farm for backing up the true value of it.

Alright, wire loom is done for now.
i used 12 gauge for the Hot and Grounds and 14 gauge for the senders and ect...
I like to braid all my wire. I braid 3 wires at a time. I put 3 wires in a vise and clamp them down.
Then stretch them out and put the other side in a drill
then i spin the wires till they are nice and wound. i did this to all 3 sets
Then i striped all the ends
then put the connectors on and heat shrinked them
Connected to two 4 pole boxes. one side for hot, ground, and ignition. the other side for senders and ect.

« on: December 04, 2013, 10:06:47 PM »Last summer I pulled out the old worn out 330hp motor and replaced it with a 500hp LS6. I'm running logs and the new motor sounds awesome. Everybody that gets behind me now says It sounds like a big boy boat now. Everyone also tells me that the logs are a huge horse power robber. What exhaust would go guys run if you were going to change. I want something as reliable as the logs and the new exhaust would have to still fit under my engine cover (not a hatch). And of course sound awesome.

In no way am i knocking southwind 18's. They did something right, its the most splashed hull in the history of ever
. Rivertards boat has a bunch of time and effort into the set up, not saying they cant be made into quick boats. They just arnt my #1 choice for a go fast boat. JMO

Southwind is a great 18 ski boat. I loved mine.
It's When you start setting the pump back and blueprinting the bottom when you start running into problems.
Most of these boats were layed up to be ski boats not race boats. So most have 1/4 stringers and a lot of hook and rocker built into them. JMO not something I would like to do 90 + with.
