That boat has an AA, that came straight from Bob Fry's mouth... It is a Mike Declark AA impeller detailed by Greg Shoemaker.   Not my first rodeo my man...

While I would agree with the HP too weight ratio argument, he is forgetting one very basic and elementary argument. Turbos do not make the butt load of torque that is required for a jet pump application... Make it a Vee drive, then we have a discussion. 

Put the 500" naturally aspirated big block against the turbo screamer and it will be a one sided race. The turbo deal needs to turn a whole bunch of low torque rpm to really shine in the HP game. Unfortunately with the load a pump can sustain, it will never see the full potential.

If we were talking variable torque, the turbo deal would be a monster..... IMHO you are safer with big cubic inches and lower crankshaft speeds...

I doubt this will be challenged.... SocalPSD....

Ill i have to say is Bob frys HighNoon is all over the turbo game. 5.98 with MAYBE 12lbs of boost and the motor is under 500 cubic inches.
The turbo thing works ben. I just think youll be more happy with big cubic inch.

So, last season I was talking to a dude about this subject, I was (and am) thinking of a dart 502 w/ hemi heads for my float and he was trying to talk me into a small block with a twin turbo set up, what are thoughts on the comparison of the two approaches? His argument was the weight to hp ratio, and well mine is, lots of fscking horsepower argument, and it's maybe a bit less costly. What are the scjb team thoughts?

i wouldn't do a turbo set up unless its a race only deal. its a lot of work keeping the tune up on one of those set ups. If i were you ben i would do a big cubic inch pump gas deal. 540 or bigger, good set of heads and 10.5 to one. easy 800 to 900 hp.

Is this boat #3 in your stable Jake or is this just the replacement for the total?  I could be wrong but I think that cracking or checking on the deck could be from heavy or extra thick gel when they sprayed it.  Doesn't look like it goes into the glass does it?

Yeah it puts it at 3. The Mach 1 is mine and my dads boat. So more like 2 and 1/2
The gel is cracked into the glass iam sure. I don't care right now. I'll get it re done at some point but for now it's fine. The owner b4 me had it siting in the sun with nothing but a blue tarp on it for 10 years. So iam sure that had something to do with it.

Alright guys, as promised. Here is my new project. I will only be posting updated here on SoCalJetBoats because well........ I am tired of the other sites, and all the bull crap.

After the demise of my first boat. Southwind 18. I got an amazing check back from my insurance company and immediately started looking for a replacement boat. "thanks state farm"

I Found an add on craigslist up in santa barbara listed as "jet boat"
I talked to an older guy. After talking to him all i can say is "GOLD".

1975 DiMarco Circle boat Weighed at 400lbs weight it when i got home with the intake tanks and calgo and gauges 423 lbs.
It has 2X4 oak stingers and 1/4 inch round oak in the strakes.
it came with

*bitchen stainless russle tanks
*Calgo steering
* Split bowl berkley jet with a stainless b- impeller
*Shoe and ride plate set up
* Set of BBC Bassett headers "that are on my SWTD"
*seats that are ready to fall apart
* An awesome competition trailer with WHITE WALL TIRES!!

The guy cut me an awesome deal! 1400$ for everything.

the only bad thing is that there are stress cracks all over the deck and drivers side.
What ever. It doesn't bother me too much.

The Power Plant will be the Ford 460 out of the southwind 18

First thing i did is pulled the jet and it went to B1 for new bearings and wear ring, new 2* back cut shoe and loader is on its way.

Most likely will set the pump back. Just dont know how far yet.

Next thing was to put new rails in the boat. We went with a full rail deal this time. Got motor plates from tom at Jet boat performance. I used countersunk stringer washers and countersunk allen bolts for hardware.

thats as far as ive gotten.  More to follow.

























 

Thats what i said mark! I think the only time we will get them down there is for the southwind regatta. . 

I am not complaining. It just caught me off guard. I never noticed the fee before because I always renewed at the DMV. Does anyone know how long they have been charging this?

Well, if it were me? I would do the stringers. But I've done a few sets. Just takes time and a lot of work.
The set back..... Is that Sanger a delta pad?? If so, I wouldn't do it. Are you going to pull the intake and have it cut for a shoe and ride plate???

Are you talking about a pop off valve?
It opens and vents water out of the jet to help slow the boat down. One of the best investments I've made on my ride.
