HAHAHAHA not to fond of the midget idea....so i put the motor in last night,its just sittin in there.with it against the bellhousing the motor mounts are still about 4 inches above the stringers,not sure if i can just use some square stock to mount in the gap.But a local shop said they can install the engine but not sure how much they will charge.Kinda of tired of fighting the engine hoist on grass.lol

LMAO, Been there, done that on cars back east. Easier to move the boat around under it.    Changed an engine in a 5 ton dump truck of my Pops once with a chain fall hooked to an oak tree limb. Lotsa fun, lotsa beer, but it went in eventually!

They're $230 new from Summit, I was thinkin around buck seventy five, each. These even have the warranty cards. instructions, etc. Make an offer! I'm NEVER gonna use these, got too many intakes around here for what i got! Anyone need an original CJ cast iron marine intake? got a butt load of them as well....

Hopefully, you keep yours long enough, and Danger shows up, for the Temple Bar trip next March, my target for my 'Shrimpin Boat'... I think we got enough fuel, size and capacity in these three jet boats to make an epic trip to cruise the entrance to the Grand Canyon this time around!  We'll just leave the Hot Rods on the beach and everyone pile in!

I don't know that I'd bother with the analysis just yet. If it looks like gas, smells like gas........I'm guessing probably gas..........but I'd make sure the shop knows you HAVE the samples anyway. Keep em sealed and dated JIC tho.

I don't think anyone else has done this Frank. Dunno if it's a good idea or not.    Texted my Paint Pro and he didn't know either.

Sounds like a pretty good idea, just dunno how much it will flex with the hull of the boat and not start flaking off.

OK, 2 sides to this response. MY sides.

I tried a pressure releif valve, and a pop off valve on Moo. The pump just simply pushed back too much pressure to the engine and eventually hydrolocked #3 a tad through the headers at the Tom Papp deal back in January. That is just the start of the story on what went wrong with this engine. The main problem was me dictating the tight tolerances I did, but that's another matter.  The boats original engine only lasted 20 minutes in stock form and far less formidable conditions, I'm pretty happy I got a year of very hard running with it this way with the new engine I put in it. Now that I kinda understand what went on, not gonna make the same mistakes three times.

You do NOT need a pressure relief valve tied to another O/B dump. A pop-off might not be a bad idea for the paranoid (ME), but even that is unneccesary.

Skip is gonna argue with me for this, but here's the reasoning. You said closing the gate valve off the pump caused abnormal temperatures. I'll get into that in a minute, but the gate, or ball, valve there is the only proper way to regulate water and pressure to the enigine. If you run a true pressure releif valve, or a pop-off, that runs water pretty consistently, that is lost thrust, or intake water, from the pump, IMHO. Lost performance, lost speed.

A water pressure guage on the engine is the only way to know what is going on here. I suspect a block partially full of sand, dirt, or worse, myself. (Don't ask me how I know this, it all relates to Moo). Run a sand filter of some sort!!    Otherwise, choking off the water coming into the engine (A sign of a good pump), is the only way to really alleviate the situation.
