I was there when the olds exploded and we towed him back. It was getting dark on the way back from the sandbar and crime was hauling azz trying to get back and oldsmopile didnt like 5200 rpm. Its ok cause a 396 resides in there now. And yes that boat is bad azz. Matt

My bad i should have read the post better i didnt see the forged part. I was thinking of hypertectic pistons by KB so I retract what i said, except the  ford part. j/k Matt

« on: September 22, 2009, 04:58:58 PM »
I have seen quite a few motors with these pistons and some stay together and some come apart at the crown. IMO i wont use anything less than a forged piston in a boat. Those pistons are fine on the street but a boat runs at much higher RPM all the time. Im going to catch some heat for saying this but i would use forged pistons in a ford because they need all the help they can get. lol Matt

Interior / Re: marine grade carpet
« on: September 16, 2009, 11:38:40 AM »
When marine carpet comes in 6 ft rolls it is normally bunk carpet. Marine carpet is normally 8 ft wide and comes in 20oz and 40oz. What is the weight of the carpet you got from home depot. Just curious. BTW bunk carpet is made so you dont have to glue it down and marine carpet will disinagrate quickly if it not glued down. Matt

If you look in the back ground of the pic in front of Advantage Boats, The red, blue and black boat is a tunnel hull Lavey Craft. One of my customers bought that boat and im building a motor for it right now. My shop is a stones throw from Advantage. Sorry to hi-jack the thread just thought it was cool. Nice float by the way. Random Boat Parts For Sale / Re: 455 olds motor mount out of my elim
« on: August 28, 2009, 11:47:40 AM »
Is the mount adjustable? From the pic it doesent look like it is adjustable. So what is the measurement from stringer mount to stringer mount. All boats are different on stringer width. Matt

Hulls / Re: Intake location ???????
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:40:45 AM »
Ive worked on a few boats that had the same problem. I have put the pump back in with the clean cover off (so you can turn the shaft to line up the knuckle) and didnt realize the cover wouldnt go back on with the pump in so out it came. So if you dont care about being able to use the clean out i would put a little sillycone on it and tighten it down good. Dominator makes a bigger and longer transom cover that would cover all the way to the bowl if you go that route. just my .02 Matt

Jet Pumps / Re: Need Pics of detailed berk bowls
« on: August 22, 2009, 01:25:27 PM »
What about the front side of the bowl? Did you do any work to it? IMFO the front side of the bowl is the more important than the exit side. Don't get me wrong the exit side is important to. I would like to see pics of the other side. FYI the last pump i blueprinted he gained 10 mph,but i did rebuild the at the same time but with the same impeller.

Jet Pumps / Re: How do you read an impellar chart ?
« on: August 22, 2009, 01:14:40 PM »
Well than its a dominator bowl and impeller. You have to pull the bowl to see what impeller it is. The energizer kit comes with any size impeller you want. But i bet the .99 cents in my bank account its an A.
If you decide to look at the impeller it will be stamped somewhere on the exit side of the impeller.

« on: August 21, 2009, 06:22:55 PM »
Correct me if im wrong but i dont think jacuzzi has an A cut impeller the start at B. I also couldnt find in the thread if it is YJ (axial flow) or a WJ (mixed flow). I'm 99 percent sure the but cut for a YJ starts at a B. Im not totally sure about WJ but im 90 percent sure it only comes in B and up. I agree with what everybody said and its not a D cut impeller. Its most likely a stock B impeller.
