. I would say mid to high 70's very respectable for a heavy boat.

« on: July 22, 2015, 09:36:12 PM »
hey guys, trying to install my baffles that I bought but the guys that owned it last left all of the hardware inside the pipe that ended up gluing itself to the inner wall by carbon build up. any ideas to get it out without stripping the hardware??

Let me know if it works for you.

Try super penetrating oil or even soak them in gas over night.

yes sir!

Umm, so what are left nuts going for these days?  :o

That is a lot of work that you were quoted for. Maybe do the major work (setback) this season and go from there one chunk at a time …  ???

We feel your pain. Good luck.

I am not bitching about the price. There is no difference from me buying a brand new 12JR for $6600 and have it show up in a box then still have to pay someone to install it. I do think I am getting a lot of work, custom work at that plus labor and the total is actually 5500 because I already have the hardened shaft and impeller.  The only problem I have right now is convincing the wife to let me spend another 5500 after spending a couple grand more for the motor.  If I can't get her to buy into it I have a mild 496 ok. It mild still kinda wild but my pump as is will handle the 550 to 600hp and then this winter have the pump built.

Interested and looking forward to seeing a wrapped jet boat. Been tickling the idea for a minute.

I will get the boat back next Monday or Tuesday, I had to change the color scheme up a little. One of the original colors I wanted is out of stock so I have to wait a extra day for new colors to come in.

You not the only one looking for a 12jg everyone  I have found 700-1000 bucks my boat will sit on the trailer for the rest of the season if I can't find one for under 400-500 bucks

Well I have a pair of IMCO gunal tanks that maybe someone will trade. I just need a pump that can handle some HP. Like over 750 hp off the bottle.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: 455 olds engine low oil pressure
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:56:12 PM »
Sounds like his oil problems are fixed I have no idea how to start a new thread so I'll just jump on this one cause it's close to what I got. I got a 455 olds it has a 10q pan, stock pump and oil restrictors. Couple issues. Oil pressure drops to 25 once warm. Read about oil type I use 20-50 with zinc add. I also read about temp issues due to contact with crankshaft. Level is little under full on stoke dip. Second issue is around 4600 oil starts leaking pretty good. Somewhere near the back on the driver side. Read about crankcase pressure and controlling with breathers. I have Pcv going to back of carb . And a mopar style breather going to fame arrestor. No baffles tall aftermarket stainless steal valve covers because of aluminum heads and the rollers.

I want to raise my oil pressure and maintain it. Stop my leaks. What you guys got?

Build a Chevy. JK. I have always heard that 455 olds have oil pressure issue and my buddy had one in his 76 Nordic. He ran straight 50 valvoline  race. Didn't seem to change anything. So unfortunately he built a Ford for it. Now it's just a slow 76 Nordic. I hope he reads this. He is going to be pissed.  LMAO.

Like I said just giving an opinion. Yes he did use the best product out there on his DCB. He wouldn't go the cheap route on that kind of boat.

And no I don't need paint, my boats in perfectly great shape as it is haha thanks tho

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats

Well I guess if you can afford to buy a DCB you can get the good shit. What color did he wrap his boat with. The two colors I am using are light colors.

Not to shoot your idea down (just giving an honest opinion), but if he doesn't cover fading on the wrap then I wouldn't do it. Had a buddy wrap his boat and it looked like shit after a one summer season.

I would personally save up to have the boat painted or a gel coat job

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats
The warranty covers fading. Maybe your buddy didn't have the new 3m craps that's out now. But like I said for $650 bucks I don't give two shits if it only last one summer. It's something different. I already have all the paint and primer to paint it. You looking for paint?? Lol. Jk.

« on: July 21, 2015, 10:22:17 PM »
I had the same issue on a 434ci sbc and I fixxed it by putting two breathers in each valve cover. You can get creative and and have one breather in each and the other breather port you can tap into the headers and run steel braided line, or you can do nothing and not worry about it until you oil pan looks like milk but that will not happen from condensation in vale covers.

You know I was just looking up the vinyl material they use to wrap boats. I might buy a few rolls and do it on the side. The material is hella cheap. I can buy enough rolls of  vinyl in any color you can think of to wrap twenty 19ft boats for just about a grand. WTF now I feel like I just got F****d. Lol.

common problem is fading.  if they cover fading....youre good to go....at least for two years.

For $650 bucks I will change the color every 6 months. I spend twice that on 1 drum of 114
