You have yoo much bowlift....Down wedge?

Do you have a ride plate? looks to me like a degree or two of down ride plate would do wonders....

Agreed Glenn, this thing carries the bow like a mutha and runs so dry it's wierd.  I'm not a big fan of the roost either and usually have run it in the 3rd from the top notch on my diverter handle which put the diverter inline with the pump.  The shot with Brian in the boat is actually one click down on the diverter. 

I do have a ride plate that's set 2.4 degrees in relation to the keel.  I don't have a wedge or droop.

Crap, didn't work again but NOW it does....

Yup, the exact reason I wanna swap out the rubber lines but we ran out of home stock AN fittings so we had to go with what we had.  I hadn't even considered the regulator but that would be a easy swap as we have a couple spares here in my box of goodies.

John is this a "hopping" or "porpoising issue" some thing new since last year?

Here's a short video. 6 seconds into it you can see that damn pump intake.  Unfortunately, when I was making the bulk of my passes, nobody was filming but we do have this one.

It seems to be brandnew. Didnt seem to have it earlier in the summer and I'm sure much is due to the rollers that we all were dealing with BUT, everyone else seemed to be able to work thru it but me.  This was in the second notch from the top on the diverter. I also tried it on the third notch but that clearly was dragging the nose more. 

Thanks guys.  Yep, we're getting close.  Fighting fuel pressure issues though.  I hate to mess up those beautiful plates but I may need to clearance it so we can run a mechanical pump.  Measuring the Carter 170gph I have, we all we need is a slight slot to accomadate the wide flange and it would fit.  Get rid of that electric "is it gonna work or not" worry.

Hah!  We're at the lake and he's running the piss out of this boat. So much so that he ran himself out of fuel at the other end of the reseviour!!!

He's getting definatley getting the hang of it and we continue to try different settings.

We have some onboard camera footage from his little helmet camera setup and we'll try to post that up when we get home. Thanks again Tommy and JetBoatPerformance. He's gotten nuthin but compliments (we have 144 boats here) and one guy wanting to buy it. What a great time.

Skips Precision Marine in Redlands is a couple shops down from mine (I hang out over there at lunch to get away once in a while  ).  Anyway, Skip and His Brother Troy ran Riverside Boat & marine in the 70's-80's and was the Sanger dealer in the area.  Both were involved with race boats at that time and might know something about it.  I''ll try to drag him down to the shop to show him some pics because he don't do computers.

Congrats Tommy.  That looks like a really nice rig. The In-laws have a Flair as well.  Been a very good rig.


And for what it's worth, I worked at a RV place about 34 years ago.  Much has changed but the principals are the same and they're really simple to work on.  I've picked up, rebuilt and sold a number of them over the years and finally just splurged a few months ago for a new setup.

The UFO had distinct similarities to my Older Sprint when I had them side by side BUT.. Josh and I still believe the keel for nearly the entire length of the hull is "dropped" about 1/4 to 3/8 inch, look real hard at the approximate 20 wide section of the center (betwen the Balsa sections ) to see this!  Harlan is by far the "man" but the person I was working with that gave me the most insight into this was Jeff Bennett (the guy is a boat bottom God) Tom

That's a good tip Tommy.  I hadn't thought of pestering Jeff about this.  I've pm'd Harlan and Billy B but will give Jeff a try as well (specially since you've already discussed with him).

Thanks guys! I guess i wasnt too far off on my idea then! Id love to know more about this thing! The more and more i find, the more and more i realize how much it truely is different! I love it!! Also, have any of you heard of a guy that goes by the name.... "Sano" Don La Franchi? in the process of cleaning the boat up i took a few pics of the very very faded pinstriping on the dash, then took them to microsoft paint and tried to redo what the striping once said. this is what i found. " PREPARED BY: "SANO" DON LA FRANCHI" the word "sano" is hidden under the gold plate for the dash brace                                 Thanks again, Ian
 

OK guys, OC2Vegas just took some pics of his 1979 Superjet for me. And when i started to compare the two... man did that open a can of worms!!!

Im just throwing this out there, BUT what i believe is that the UFO may have a Sprint bottom (along with added drop keel) with a SuperJet deck. From what i have read throughout the research is that the sprint has a very narrow "cockpit" especially back by the motor, and has a longer deck than the super jets. The deck of the UFO definatly matches every other superjet ive seen, but the bottom seems to be different, more then just the drop keel. it appears that the super jets have very shallow lifting strakes, where-as the UFO has very deep and "swoopy" strakes, much like the sprint that i have a picture of. i will post a few pictures for you to give your input on. Just thinking outloud on this one!!

NOW, this is a pic of Sprint. Notice the very narrow engine compartment, and different bottom then the superjets above.



Ok, now from seeing those pictures. here are some of the UFO. It is hard to get pictures that show the bottom like the others posted because of the cav plates but i think these will do just fine. The bottom sure like like a sprint bottom to me, and the boat definatly has the superjet deck. Could it really be possible that the boat was special ordered with that combo or am i just dreaming?
