Jet Pumps / Re: pump chatter noise at idle?
« on: November 12, 2012, 05:44:25 PM »
Ya I agree, its not the best idea to run it out of water, I on the other hand have a jet boat already and have run it out of water with a hose hooked up plenty of times and havnt had an issue, it was mainly to show me it ran and to get a sample of the noise he politly told me about before making the trip to check it out, either way it won't shine me away from our deal he have going, test drive on elsinore in the mourning so we will see how it goes!

Jet Pumps / pump chatter noise at idle?
« on: November 11, 2012, 08:03:46 PM »
I may be picking up a 1996 ultra bubble deck on tues, the owner told me it had a weird chatter knock type noise at idle, I went and checked the boat out today, he hooked up water and started it up for me, I only heard the noise once just at idle, sounded as if the impellor shaft was jumping around in say a worn out type bushing or bearing, the pump is a set back berkley, not sure which model but it was a split bowl with a fairly small examine hatch type lid on the outside of the hull, he showed me reciepts of 600+ dollars spent on rebuilding the pump just before last season, only concern I have of the boat, it has a tom papp blown big block in it and runs in the 80mph range, just seeing if its a big issue or a normal type noise? Thanks for any input

Thanks man I appreciate any info I can get, the kit came with an A impellor, its an american turbine kit so not sure what brand its compatible with, I'm ok with having some pros do work on the jet, I can afford it and want it done right, I own a fabrication company and have access to machine shops and every form of fabricating available, I want to over build the pump as I plan on a new motor this winter pushing around 700 hp, I'm a ford guy and plan on putting a hurting on a few chevys out there

Jet Pumps / energized wj potential?
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:05:19 PM »
I picked up a BNIB energizer kit for a grand, it has everything they would normally come with, my pump is a wj, I'm basically trying to see what else I can do to it before putting it back in to get more out of it, bigger intake? Massage the dominator bowl? Change the A impellor it came with? Add a droop snoot? Add a place divertor? All these things I'm not sure of and trying to do this once.

My boat is a 1975 omega 19' with a big block ford roughly 500 hp, I'm looking for a higher top speed is all, it runs right around 55 mph right now and is crazy fast out of the hole, the pump is 100% stock and tired, what can I be expecting to get out of the fresh energized kit? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
