Should be NO water at idle. I think the consensus is to have it start coming on at 1800 or so. Only steam. No spray or droplets.

Vwagon13, I have read the entire article and definitely understand what you're saying. I only did external drains because I didn't want to take the heads or anything else off. I understand leaving some HP on the table but my engine is pretty stock so turning more peak rpm isn't a good idea anyway. It was fairly inexpensive, quick to do and I didn't have to change anything else to solve the puking issue. That's my reasoning.

The jc pump is probably one that you might find cheaper. It's the same suction housing as the jg but came with a non split bowl. The jc bowl requires a different cradle. Most here would recommend that you find a jg pump (for the split bowl) so you have more tuning options down the road.

I have a pretty much stock olds 455 in my boat. It has great compression on all cylinders with moroso breathers. I had a problem with oil filling the valve covers and spraying out of the right hand breather. This winter i installed external drains to the pan and it completely solved the problem. Just wanted to share.

I know this topic is kind of being discussed in another thread but I'm looking for some info specific to delta hulls. My boat has a one piece rideplate/shoe that's bolted to the intake. Obviously it lowers the biting edge of the intake. Can anyone offer some input as to how appropriate this might be for this type of hull? I have a loader that I haven't trimmed due to various opinions about Delta's needing to scoop up more water. The boat does 65 at 4900 with a fresh early dominator pump with an A impeller. Should I consider back cutting the plate to reduce drag?

Oh crap. I didn't know that. Where do I get the o-rings? Now that I look at my plumbing I see I've got some other flare fittings including on my fuel lines. Haven't had any leaks yet..

Don't know off hand. It's in a 76 boat but I have no idea if it's even original. What markings can I look for to find out? Do different years use different seals?

OK. My engine is out for external drain back mods and I want to fix the rear main seal leak that's been messing up ma bilge all last year. I've never done one. Can anyone give me some tips? I've heard to use a Ford 460 seal. Can I just pick one of those up at the parts store? Will I have to lift the crank to get the old seal out? What works the best?

I have an old accel dual point distributor (model escapes me at the moment..will update after work) on my olds with a tunnel ram. It's working pretty good but I'd like to go electronic. As far as I can tell no one makes a kit for it. It's almost identical to a Mallory YL series but the insides are different. Obviously I can't go hei because of the t-ram. Does anyone have some ideas for a solution? Should I try to source a used Mallory?

Last summer I made a template out of poster paper from the craft store. I took it to a local plastic company and had them cut it out of a sheet of 1/8th acrilic. I bent it myself with the aid of a heat gun. Came out great. Cost was about $90.
