Just mark the top and bottom shafts...rotate 1 turn on top and note what the bottom turns...Lil math and you got it!

Jim is 100% right  ...exact thing happened to me / exact same issues...Thrust bearing failure / impeller eating into suction...

Red Rooster was a very cool RV/Mobilhome part north of Blythe. Best friend had a place 2 miles north. Great stretch of the river, local call outs/races every evening...herd they leveled the place(Indian land).

Unlike everybody else mine makes a huge differance, slow and at speed. My boat will turn without throttle. The hull is a deep v cruiser - not a flatty by any means. As my wife and daughter drive it all the time - it works well for me.

 

Thanks for the replies gents! I like the idea of the cold drain - no doubt the sucker/vacuum must be used but its needed with warm oil also. On multi-grades cold should not affect drain-ability, actually should help it. And getting out more of the dirty oil is what its all about...

I'm a cheap bastard, and I like to know its done right. I change all my own oils.

So oils are 5w/30, 20/50, ect........forget u straight 50 boys......

The question: is it better to drain these multi-grade oils cold better.....? 20cold/50warm.....should drain better cold.....right?

I have always warmed my engine before draining.......technology says thats wrong......

Good looking family boat, underline family. Your hull(and mine) are not speed boats, they are cruisers. Whats nice is they are "turn key" gas and go....no idle issues, very low maintanence. For the several thousand dollars of exhaust, tunnel ram, carbs, ect....you will not see a great speed increase. Major pump work would be needed also$$$$.

Just my opinion but leave her alone....

On my 5th boat and I will never, never ever, never never every buy or trade for a boat without putting it on the water!

Not great news for you - Castaic is LEO heaven, LA busy, and Quagga inspections....
Isabella is real low as they are repairing the dam - several year project. Main issue is that its a very, very windy lake most days....Morning runs!! Pretty loose on LEO's, no Quagga. Many campgounds!!
You can drop down to Bakersfield - Lake Buena Vista. Good campgrounds.

Sounds like we are confusing a jetovator and a place diverter here....if its got a wiper motor controling it its a type of jetovator.

Whats up with the 4 hoses @ the t - stat housing and the "tees' @ the water pump entry, is it actually running a thermostat? I have not seen that setup

Mine came apart at the thrust bearing, almost lunched my motor if I waighted longer....our boats are a 3 point mount, 2 forward, bellhousing/jet in rear is the third. Its covered because theres nothing to maintain....packing wise.

Mine warned me.....jet drive got noisy....from shore sounded like a v drive......Tom and Josh there are "the shit", call them, or as I did - take it to them, they are straight up - one of the best shops I have used. Mine ran 20 years un touched, family boat...wear ring, bearings, and the thrust bearing...I'm good for years....
