Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Silverado 1500 Ignition Problem
« on: February 03, 2010, 11:43:48 PM »
Finally got it! ;D The owner of the wrecking yard came by the house and spent about 2 hours with my kid and got it going (I could not be here). It turns out that there must have been a model year change in the wiring between the old/new column. They switched out the wiring harness and used the one from the old column and got it to run.
If anyone in the so cal area needs parts for late model trucks see Ron at Walker 400. He is a great guy and amazingly helpful.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Silverado 1500 Ignition Problem
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:21:30 AM »
My kids 2000 Silverado needed a new steering column. Picked one up at a buddies wrecking yard in Fontana that was in great shape. Done deal. Now the stupid thing won't start. We tried leaving the ignition on for a few minutes in the "on" position so that it would "learn" the code. That did not work. Anybody know about the security system on these ignitions? We need this truck on the road. Thanks.

Miscellaneous / Spam / Scuba Tanks
« on: January 22, 2010, 07:41:47 PM »
Father in law is selling off his scuba tanks since he can no longer dive. They are 3000 psi tanks but will need to be hydro'd if to be used for diving (breathing air). If to be used as compressed air they are ready to go and are full of air. He is asking $65 each. They are in Central Cal, but I can bring them back to So Cal if anyone is interested.

My father in law is selling a Craftsman Electronic Radial Arm Saw. He bought it new a few years ago, used it on one project and has been sitting collecting dust ever since. He is asking $175 for it. The head turns 90* for rip cuts. It comes with the base/stand. It is a really nice unit and is in great shape. It is in Central Cali, but I can bring it down to So Cal next week if anyone is interested.

Brad, if you go to any good door supplier you can ask for NRP Hinges. They have non removable pins which are secured by a set screw which is concealed on the inside of the hinge when it is closed.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: VW Heads
« on: January 03, 2010, 12:23:13 PM »
The numbers are under the valve springs. I dont believe it is the head size because I think all the heads are stock which would make them 85.5 mm.

Got a question on VW heads. I am helping out my father in law with a sandrail he has. There are three set of dual port heads sitting around. One set has the number 71, one set says 82 and the third set 93. What are the differences in these heads. they will be going in a 1776 cc motor. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey RD, we are interested in the boat. We can take it without the trailer if necessary. Do you think that a single axle for an 18' will hold it properly? If so maybe we can work something out between yourself, 75 and us. Would this work for you 75?

Bebo is at school so I will reply for him. He is using the money to build up his 454 we have in the garage and put it in another hull. As for his minibike it is running great, but he wants a bigger motor for it (thats my boy!)
