slapped in the plugs, got some msd plug wires but gotta trim em to length.  put all the hoseclamps on the wire lines and made sure everything was tight.  hooked up the hose and turned the gate open all the way... water out the rear exhaust with no leaks anywhere.  gonna trailer it to hemet tomorrow and wax it up and hopefully start it tomorrow.  im excited.  had to drain a TON of gas out of the tanks and refill with 91.

got some stuff done.  gotta wait for my dooley scoop to come in.  exhaust is bolted up, all hoses are cut, just gotta slap some hoseclamps on em.  then lifting the motor out, putting starter on, tq'ing flexplate bolts, got new u-joints tonight as well for the driveline.  bolt up the stringer plates.  found something i can use for a new rubber seal for the jet mount.  prolly start on electrical this weekend.  hopefully be at a point where i can crank it over soon.

sigh not as quick as i was hoping waiting for parts and such.  but managed to grab a bunch of goodies, hoses, exhaust hoses, spark plug wires, msd ignition, fuse block, wiring, battery hold down, battery, 3/8" fuel hose, more water hose, gaskets.  ugh the back of my expedition looks like a parts department right now.

Interior / Re: interior ideas...

I've got 2 fiberglass buckets and 50" plywood bench...one of which would have to be recovered to match the other, but it'll save you some $$.  Also, I'm in long beach.

I've got quotes of about $200 each to upholster buckets like the ones in the picture and about $300-400 for the bench.

Give me a call if you want to come check out my stuff...I'll let it go pretty cheap.

let me measure the width for the bench and if it fits/is close ill hit ya up.

Interior / interior ideas...
« on: September 21, 2010, 04:39:52 PM »
how much would something like this cost to have done?  but obviously made to fit my boat. (the ones in the pic are just too narrow)

ive tried calling around and asking for a quote but most are asking to see it in person before even a ballpark answer can be made.  i just want 2 buckets, and a bench across the back.  i already have new carpet in but id need the boxes/frames made for everything.  anyone who has had it done u dont have to say where (i totaly understand not quoting someone elses work) but just a ballpark for what you paid would be great.  am i lookin at 1500-2k?

from: http://www.socaljetboats.com/project-boats/1978-tahiti-jet-project/

yesterday i ripped out the floor, it was completely rotten.  whoever halfassed it didnt put a drain hole/vent so water gets in there and has nowhere to go.  surprisingly it was still wet when digging it all out.  prolly hasnt been in the water in at least a year.  gross.  gonna fiberglass in a new resin covered floor with drain on each side.  pulled all the electrical out, ordered 4 48x3x1/8 aluminunm plates for the 1/4 stringers.  ordered plate for the dash, ripped out all the gauges and junk under the dash, ripped out carpet.  ripped out old water lines and replacing with SS braided and fittings, replacing fuel lines and electric switch with ball valves and a T.  pix coming tonight...

so far so much fun!

whats the status on the fuel tanks?  fiberglass or alum/stainless? does the motor run currently (i know you said it runs smoothly, just wondering if that was in some other boat or this one) or require anything other than interior and some few odds and ends?
