Great looking boats, I do have to admit I like the hulls a lot! We got more 'beaners on here than we have in Guadalupe!, lol, and kinda neat to see one on the water!

Does the nose of the starter point towards the back of the boat or the front? Sounds like a reverse rotation top mount to me. Don't think the flywheel matters on a Ford, but the starter does.

Now THAT'S funny! lol.

I doubt the blowout tho, maintenance on those vehicles is pretty good I would imagine, but could be. Still why over a buck on a surface road?

Just an idea, lol

We had a somewhat similar incident a few years ago in South Phx where a cop was "responding to a call" along a then pretty much deserted stretch of Baseline road. Lost control on a flat, straight stretch of road, (the whole damn road is a straight as an arrow, and flat) skidded to the left for some reason, hit the embankment on the right side, then flipped the cruiser a couple times and died (Was only a 2 or 3 yeard cop too)at about 3 AM. They made such a stink about it at the time.

No other cars around, thank gawd it was really late, car ended up behind a newly built bus stop, but happened right in front of a new development that was going in. I happened across it going to work when I installed doors and trim in new homes and had to turn around and take the I 10 to 51st to get around it, they closed the road.

Saw the skid marks for weeks as I was working on a development about 10 miles from the spot. Fugger HAD to be screaming when all this happened. The skid and slide marks before the curb were AT LEAST 150 yards long. And the spot where the car ended up was a good 100 yards from where the skid marks ended at the curb.

Look at the tax money, public donations to the family, all the hype because the fugger was apparently an idiot. 5 full lanes and you lose control with NOONE else around, and why such a high rate of speed anyway. I can see fast, but we're talking prolly similar triple digit speeds.

I agree with whomever posted, "you can't fix stupid".

DAmn that thing looks wild! Between you and Terry, you guys are gonna force me to do something stupid with a huffer on something, lol

Looking sweet though Tom! VERY sweet!

Also sounds like maybe an expansion to a JBP East here in PHX? that would be convenient, lol

Wow Brad! Is that the Southwind?

Looks like some scoring on it to me. Try cleaning it off with thinner or something. might clean up with some emery and some string. I dunno.

Looks like they will come out with a minor hone job to me, and inexpensive to do or get done. Again, it's down this far, why not?

And those look more like serious nicks above the top ring on that piston? Maybe just the pic on my LT.

Ray

That crank throw looks suspicious to me tho.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: white smoke/ steam?
« on: May 21, 2009, 03:10:45 PM »
I have had my boat for a couple years. bbc panther logs. put a new carter comp. carb and hei on it. took it out sunday andwhen you get it off idle there is white smoke everywhere at idle is fine. both sides of exhaust. Oil isnt over filled, oil is clean. I fired it up dry really quick and no smoke. Only when water is ran through it. Maybe to much water running through? Any ideas would be great. Or opinion.

Is this the first time you've run it this year? If so, could be as simple as rotten valve stem seals or valve cover gaskets or exhaust manifold gaskets, or a combination of all three. Might have nothing to do with the upgrades.

Mark-

Glad you got it all worked out, I guess we can all learn a lesson from this to always look at the used stuff you buy before you just bolt it on. If I remember correctly the guy you bought that whole setup from had a Rex header control valve installed so the T was probably gutted to suit his needs.

Anyone that just jumps the gun and assumes people are getting f-ucked need to make sure they have all the facts before they put people on blast.

End

I was referring to the $52.99 for the ball and spring kit, Skip, lol
