Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Re: I need 460 Motor mounts.
« on: April 28, 2009, 11:21:24 PM »
I have the front mount, motor (Block) mounts and the crossbrace with the plate under it if you need it too from my Saguaro. (Gonna go rails and 4 point on the Yellow Submarine).

Let me know.

Ray

Oh And I have the bellhousing with jet mount too (1 stripped hole for the lower starter mount, the upper starter mount holes never used, too, if need be)

;)   ;)   ;)

How many people actually click on the ads anyway?  I do appreciate the way this site is designed, all low key like.  Whatever it takes though to keep the space available I'm sure none of us would mind seeing some entertaining/convenient links available.

Then, and just a suggestion, lol,  I would have Omar selling the space from the sites he hits, in that case. Might not be "family oriented" or any where close to even related to what we do, but would pay the bills ;D

That, my brothers, is the greatest Politician's Answer you will ever hear, other than "Senator, I do not recall".

Oh, and YES IT DOES!  (I said it Brad, you didn't, for the record)

Kinda confused about this. Did you just swap out the pan for the same pan? Go from front sump to rear sump or vice-versa?, or go with a big dealio like a Dooley or Milodon?

Need a little more info, brother.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: BBF Dip Stick Issue?
« on: April 28, 2009, 08:39:14 AM »
On a dooley pan, you prolly have a windage tray, (They come with them). the dipstick probably hit that and got turned sideways along the tray (Towards the aft end of the boat) a bit Josh. If that happened, a rod or counterweight probably bitch slapped it around a bit (#1 and #5). The fortunate thing is because the side the dipstick goes into, the dipstick woulda been bent down and away from the mains and rods and not sucked up into them. That mighta been disaster.

Both mine tend to hit the tray going in, kinda gotta tap them around a bit before they go in. The trick is to not just jam it in there, lol.

You're probably ok, doesn't sound major, but with that and the water, I'd change the oil and filter for sure.

My .040 over stock stroke 460 is tunning dual 750's on a Weiand tunnel, and running fine. Cast iron heads (Ported pretty aggressively) and a Comp cams marine solid lifter. Runs out fine, secondaries seem to open just fine by the ass-o-meter, can't get anyone brave enough to stick their face back there at speed.

This is just too funny not to share, (By bud (and adopted brother) won't think so, but I don't care).

My bud Sergio (Who was best man in my wedding, I was best man in his), asked to borrow the Biesemeyer to go fishing this weekend as his brother in law was in town from Montana. No problem. He has no real tow vehicle, so I said, take my truck. lol

Apparently, and I'm just getting the pieces of the story tonight, as they are all on their way here for a Steak barbeque at my house, everything went fine. When they got back to the dock, one guy got out on the dock while another puttered around in the boat, ready to pull it out. Sergio yells, hey I need my keys (His keyring he left in the boat, containing the ONLY key to my truck, and he knew that). The guy grabs them and throws them, quite short, and they went in the lake in about 10 feet of water, lol.

They have spent, as of the last phone call, 4 hours dragging a bunch of treble hooks on a couple pieces of fishing line around the dock trying to retreive the keys, lol.

His wife called me and I laughed. Hysterically. They thought I'd be pissed, so they haven't called me.

So the result is, someone called their wife, she brought their truck up and changed the trailer to it and got the boat out, lol. My truck is still at the lake, and they're gonna head back up first thing in the morning trying  to retreive the keys. LMFAO.

Called the Ford dealer when I heard of this, I can get a key cut, just bring in the title and no problem, lol.

Not gonna tell them that tho.
Just thought I'd share a day in my world, lol.

Who's starting a pool?

I am going to say  broken piston, hydrauliced do to water ingestion....

Sorry to hear this CHROMEY, that just blows...I was fortunate enough to scramble mine at the end of the season...Good luck with it...

I have a good freind who runs a wrecking yard (Fords as far as the eye can see, mostly trucks), let us know what is needed, maybe we can do it on the cheap O0

GT

Could very well be, and makes sense with all the info. Hopefully only a dropped valve, but I agree with  Glenn, because of the rusty plug. With luck the block is OK.

Dun matter either way, Chromey's out of commission. Get a good look at it with Skip and then figure what you need. I got a spare block if it is damaged as well.  Rusty, (Sat outside in the Saguaro from the PO) but should be fine with a good hot tank and machining. (I'll get it done if it comes to that).

Get on it man! See what you need! You got the time, we can gather the parts.

Keith and Elwood are right on the mechanical thing. Did that on the Moo boat right after I got back from Mead, (Crewcheif's advice) only to find that yeah, the oil pressure was about 115 (Prolly due to the oil I run and over building the oil system in the thing).

Fixed that with the remote dual filter ass'y and remote oil cooler, but still, good information. (My example is an extreme).

Now I run about 75-85, which is high, but manageable.

Ray

On the tach, dunno. Too much seat time in cars and boats to let a tach BS me. Double and triple check your wiring, and yeah, check to make sure it's in 8 cylinder mode. I've never seen a faulty tach, only faulty wiring, installation, or reader,  ;D But I'm sure they exist.

Exactly what I go through, the Saguaro has one kinda built in, The Biesemeyer does too (The swim deck), but in tuning THIS thing, which is a NIGHTMARE, I'll sometimes lift and she stalls, or something else stupid happens (Like the coil wire popping off) and she swamps anyway, lol Learned to lift only after making a sharp turn JIC.

Wonder who makes white lexan with black spots? ;D

ORRRRR, Better idea yet! Titty pink lexan! Now wer're talking! >:D

This boat is so weird, lol

Pretty much it. Did it back in High School by laying the Lexan on two metal tables separated about 2" with an old oven heating element running in the space between them. Worked well, the thought has crossed my mind a couple of times on this for a guard on the moo (I swamp that thing pretty regularly), but more importantly for a windsheild on the Blue one.
