With the internet these days brings the ability to get any piece of info. for any aftermarket or performance factory part out there, so finding the right part is a piece of cheese if you think about what your trying to do before hand..

I've gotten more bargain parts and donations that probably total, in themselves, thousands of dollars at retail. Yeah, I've put a few thousand more into this thing, but I'm going to get more that that out of it in enjoyment.

i also agree on over building for future testosterone levels. It's the only reasonable thing to do.

Oh and GT, good advice on the OIl Press guage, since we're all jacking this thread to hell anyway. A few raps, and the problem WAS the ignition switch.

I could tell the differences Tom, Don't worry about it. Probably a disgruntled former employee from one of the "manufacturer's" many companies.

Yours is tremendously different than the Milodon I bought, wish I'da know you did those first, really.  The windage tray, everything different. Even the ribs, but I'm not here to address that issue, that's all yours.

We'll see if I have the Oil pressure problem at high RPM  that Electrowoman had real quick with my Milodon. I suspect more a problem with a leaking pump/pickup or gasket/connection between them than the oil pan, IMHO, but whatever.

I can attest fit was a major concern, but since I have a JE pump on this one that is set back a tad from where the JC I have in the Saguaro is may prove  to be a bit more challenging, I got it in there and nowhere near the pump or intake housing.

Might take feeler guages to measure how far away it is from the bottom of the hull, however  , but clears it.

BTW fired the boat again today, after removing half bypassing the choke with a spring (Per 2Sav's joke/advice) Ran like a champ! Only minor tuning! Should run fine for this dealio!! I am SOOOO psyched.

Here's an Idea Omar. And just an idea. Did this years ago in High school on a Nova I had that everyone wanted to sit on at hang-ins to pick up chicks.

Wire the output of a HEI coil to the chassis. The tires will insulate it and keep it charged, and mount a rubber isolated switch under a fender or somewhere only you know where it is to unload it harmlessly to chassis ground.  It could even be wired to the door locks on modern cars as long as you use a rubber insulated key, I suppose.

Anyway, anyone touched the car, on the ground, WAMMO, 60+ K-volts.

It's a motivator, that's for sure! It did work. Now to challenge my lil brain on exactly how I wired it. Back then I was into electronics techie stuff.............The old Radio Shack days,

Got the boat fired today. didn't want to idle, but sounded great all three times she fired up under throttle. Gonna need all you guys help getting her lake worthy from a tuning standpoint Friday if you don't mind.... took the kids out of school for Friday, they're last day before Spring break, and a half day anyhow. So should be up there by noonish I think.

Bringing my timing light, and a bunch of what tools I think I need, but I know you guys are pros. Might make for some more fun on Friday, who knows.

Also I need to change the oil out after about 2 hours of run time or so if anyone has a pump to do this, through the dipstick tube, lemme know, else I'm buying one, if I can, locally.

Other than that, looking so forward to this. Have such a raging hard on from the boat firing even Larry King is looking attractive.

Guys, let me know if I need to bring my grills, or anything else. Plenty of room in the bed of the truck. Name it soon! If I dun have it, I can prolly borrow it!

Allright. I have such a raging woodie I can hardly contain myself. She FIRED! Filled the block with water, didn't bother with running on the the hose as I didn't plan to run her for more than a few seconds, but she FIRED! And scared the livin SHEIT outta my neghbor (Not to mention me) who was spraying weeds in the yard beside my garage. Also scared the dog, who was inside at the time, half to death too I guess. Boat was in the garage, so it kinda amplified things a tad.

She sounds good, gonna need final timing with a light (Gonna wait for Mead to do that once I get it in the water), and probably some carb tuning, hopefully the guys coming to Mead are willing to pitch in. This Marine carb is different than anything I'm used to, and at that has been years.

Some minor problem reared it's ugly head. The Oil pressure guage is like this. Don't remember it being like this before, but could be. I think it has to do with my wiring. Honestly.


Also, and may be important, alt guage, everything is a lil kooked, but the ignition switch fell apart on me trying to crank the thing, so I used a screwdriver in the switch when all the guts to the mech came out. That might also have something to do with it. Gonna swing by Tempe Marine tomorrow and get a new switch. And life jackets, and check into ejection seats. This thing doesn't sound the least bit docile!

Hopefully the guages are ok. Might go to Autozone and pick up a cheapo three guage set and mount it in the rear somewhere just to be safe.

AND...I need to clean up this mess of wiring.....





Couldn't wait to fire her, and needed access to the crank. Now that I know it's close, I can put in the custom, termite food engine cover I built. Then mount the coil, Hyfire , oil cooler and remote oil filter stuff.  The wiring I can clean up, shorten, etc and wire loom it with split loom and spiral wrap. Should be OK there. but Man!! Ready for Mead, well sorta. Would be better to be running a proven boat, but this may be even more fun!

BTW, It has an Electric choke on the carb. Should I just remove the choke plate and shaft? Or can I simply run a wire to it and choke it with a switch? Always used Mechanicals b4. Could be why she didn't want to stay running.

FWIW I put a Milodon on mine. It required a Melling M84 pump and a Milodon pickup. Already had the pump in the motor, so that was easy. Don't know about the dooley tho. Mines also a BBF. Tight fit, but I feel it's worth it, not only for the extra capacity, but with the windage tray and trap doors and baffles. Should keep the oil on the pickup head.
