My dad paints the same picture Tom. He's still pissed at me for trading 2 revolvers for the Yellow Submarine! He forgets I own a LOT more guns than that, and didn't need them. His picture is a little more bleak tho. Kinda a cross between Orwell's 1984 and Clockwork Orange.

And this guy used to read me bedtime stories as a kid! Yikes!

Oh I so agree Tom. Look at the test in proof. Washington DC, where it is ( or was) illegal to own any sort of firearm not registered, such as a machine gun is registered, prior to, I beleive, 1982. ( This has been recently revoked I think). But what happened? DC became the murder capital of the WORLD. Crooks knew no victims would be armed and had their way with whatever they wanted. Nearly double the car jackings than all of southern california, yeah, not a pretty sight.

Anyone who thinks the 2nd Amendment is antiquated and no longer has bearing needs to look at reality. While the 2nd was an insurance policy for the masses to overthrow just the same government we see today, it's more important to realize it guarantees the lawful citizen the right to self defense of life and liberty.

If you're daft enough to beleive it's the LAw Enforcement communities responsibility to do that, well, think again. On the side of nearly ever patrol car in the US says, "To Protect and Serve". That don't mean you and me. That means to Protect and serve the LAW! Nice to know they'll be all over investigating my murder, but will they prevent it? Nope, no law was broken until they did it.

Exactly right! As the economy takes a shit, B&E's, car theft, home invasions, they all go on a rise. Something you don't hear about on the news. I never had my wifes obituary put in papers here in Arizona for that very reason. Did in Ohio, but not here. Noone understood why. Think about it! 8) Seen that scenario too many times.

Sick focking theives out there, I'd rather not be explaining myself for shooting one of the idiots. But will if necessary.

You'll figure it out. Just remember what he did and don't do that! The biggest thing stepping into mgmt. is you have to look at things from a different angle. From the owners angle. It ain't Bill's Car dealership, it's whoevers. Your biggest challenge is going to be gaining respect from your former peers, tho. That will come. Won't change overnight.

Wayyyyy back when, when I was first promoted to manager, I remember my District manager's first visit. The fokker waited a month after promoting me to visit me the first time. He asked if I had any problems. I said, other that not knowing what the fawk I'm doing or what the fawk you expect me to be doing, none. I remember his words. "You run this business like you owned it, and we'll never have an issue, that's why I promoted you." Use that philosophy to this day.

BTW, who took the new SL65 for a test drive to get fired?  ;D

And congratulations!

WTF said that? musta been the guy who sold me the Milodon Oil pan! Played hell getting that thing on after $400.

Given that, from what I've seen, Steve, you're the Mcgyver of making things fit. Get out your cordless drill, a blender , "d" batteries, a tampon, and some weatherstrip adhesive and I'm sure you'll get this thing in the water.

'tis true, but cast pistons expand much more than say, forged. The HE pistons? haven't figured out yet why they exist, honestly. A lot depends on what your gonna build it with. Work with your machine shop if they're capable.

I made this point years ago, STC. I grew up in Oil country in western PA and eastern Ohio. Used to service equipment in the Quaker State and Pennzoil national HQ when they were both in OIl City, PA. People wondered why Diesel cost more than gasoline when it's far less pure than gasoline. Simple answer. By products. OIl, at least PA style oil, dunno about Al quaida oil, is wax based. And as you stated , crayons, candles, all sorts of crap are made from it. This is why. They can't get the stuff out of it to make even more. Wonder why the Oil company guys make so much money? 90% of America doen't know this. Gasoline is a by product. They make more off the other crap that comes out of it to make gasoline.

Now, bear with me, this is both P/R and politician skewed. Fuel prices always spike during Holiday weekends. Known fact. The gas companies know we need it then, and can pad their profits then. You know, we have an anti-cartel law, kinda funny how the oil companies seem to be exempt.

Anyway, they real money is made from the by products of refining oil these days. So then, logically, gas prices should not be an issue. When's the last time you heard of a Candle company or crayon company going under because of wax prices? They can fluctuate gas prices to compensate. And our elected officials..... O0....... allow this to happen. We pay for it. When Wax and other ingredients are the primary goal anyway?

Just my educated .02

X2 guys. But from what I understand, Marine blocks had their own casting designation, D1VE, I could easlily be wrong. As far as what makes it different than a street block, couldn't tell you. But I have 3 of those casting codes. Hopefully someone will chime in with that they mean.

Yeah, I looked at that. Wiring the engine side, it's a great thread, helps even though I'm going all Mallory on it. The Mallory manuals help with that tho. Between the two I should be OK.

My problem is hooking up what I took off from what went to the dash. As you say, just requires a helper. My son is elected! I just want to make sure noone wired the thing wrong to begin with, much like they plumbed it wrong to begin with. I'm surprised I can't find a thread with basic wiring for the ignition switch, tach and guages to the engine. Would help to double check myself.
