I was gonna say, why's Kermit even on there? Don't see no green? I wouldn't worry about gelcoat cracks. IF it was perfect, you'd never sit on it, walk the deck, beach it and would spend countless hours shining, cleaning it instead of enjoying it.
I have a brand new set of seats just like those, but those look perfectly fine!

I would simply walk in and either demand my pistons back, or brand new replacements, or some sort of compensation. No call for that kinda crap. I am like you, very trusting to a fault. Lots of parts out there I simply donated or said "catch me later".
Did he deduct the amount he sold the pistons for from your bill? Probably not..........so much for trust, Glenn....but I'd do it face to face.......
Similar thing, I dropped off these Aluminum Edelbrock heads I picked up that have VERY obviously and severely bent intake and exhaust valves. He said "just replace them all", which is fine, but I told him up front I want all the old ones back. Not my first Rodeo with these guys. They're S/S Race Manleys and even if half of 'em are junk, who knows when I might need just one replacement someday. They just looked at me funny, but finally agreed.

Color matching will be the problem. If that is the worst thing you have to deal with, in that pic, on original gel, touch it up with some body filler and get a few "samples" from the local paint shop. Just my opinion, but no need to rip up the rest of the boat for that. Pickle has FAR worse dock rash from the previous owner, and I choose to leave it alone. Gives the boat character and history, for one, and also makes it so I am not afraid to scratch/gouge it myself.
To each his own, but IMO, when you make it perfect, you won't run it/float it for fear of hurting it.
If they don't leak, leave them alone. Touch 'em up if you feel necessary, but I like drivers VS traileer queens. We all make good fun of Hallett Dave, that he enjoys, but I will tell you this, yes, his boat is absolutely beautiful EVERY time you see it, and yes, he is also NOT afraid to run the living hell out of it, hitting rock bars, whatever. We cannot all afford the repair bills on such things that he has. I think even Dave would "approve of this message".......

For a tad north of 5k you can flat out buy Pickle which is a proven turnkey boat (well, more turnkey than anything on CL). THAT is my measuring stick.........New battery, she's running fine. Don't recall that boat EVER being towed in except for the Father's Day deal.

Been down with the flu last couple days. But Nick, this is a Kuhl blower adaptor beside a regular blower carb plate (This one is a rough casting needing cleaned up before use, but I have 3 of these things, the other two have Mike Kuhl cast into them as well, I think this one was made after he sold the shop that was subsequently padlocked by the Sheriff's Dept on the new owners)..... He made them for both Dommy's and 4150's so they could be mounted inline as part of his River Rat package.
Obviously, center to center spacing is a TAD different, as are the overall dimesions of the original Dooley Scoop, which Terry has the only one I know of. I thought I had one found in Havasu, but nope.

Yes it HELPS, but there is no way on God's green earth it cools down enough to stop burns or any other problems we see with them.

Same issue on my Charger. Plan is to use billet PCV valves hosed to evac bungs installed in the headers. It's pressure causing this, not oil, so I think this will work in this case.

Where in the world does THAT look cool? or even work on a boat? Wrapping your headers up like a 3rd degree burn victim? Really?
On the other, yes, ceramic coating DOES help, but burns are still inevitable with them. Doesn't cool them THAT much, just protects the finish and lowers the exit exhaust temps.
I think you're on the right track. Especially with a blown engine. Once you install these, prove my point with your results............

First and foremost, you should NOT SPLIT THE COST ON ANYTHING IMO! Take it somewhere else, get new logs put on, and go from there.
They did the work, they knew what was up, yes, marine motor, you HAD to make it to the dock to survive and why it's so bad. Ultimately, legally, it's their fault.
In the meantime. If you can afford it, get that verified, in writing, AND fixed by a reputable shop so it won't happen again and get a lawyer to simply write a letter.
You should be able to recoup ALL your money spent plus a little pretty easily, but if court time comes, you got your ducks lined up.

Use a gasket. Any tiny imperfections in either surface will be compensated for. Just use the proper torque sequence go in 25% at a time, and use the hell out of Gaskacinch (Both sides of the gasket, the head, AND the manifold).........You'll NEVER have a leak doing that unless something is VERY wrong.
